Review summary

Everyone on the ship was great. No matter what we needed we were satisfied promptly and competently. The itinerary was exactly what we wanted - no packing and unpacking and waits at the airport required to see multiple islands in Hawaii. No Customs and Immigration issues at all since this was a totally domestic route.

Tendering takes a bit of time from your excursion but is unavoidable. The second stop on the Big Island is very different from the first (Hilo) as this is the dry side. The beach blast isn't worth the time and effort, but if you do go, be sure to use the glass bottomed boat as that is the best way to see the turtles. Do something different or nothing at all and relax this day.

Do the best of Maui - worth the time. NCL excursions are too costly - comparable tours are offered on shore by several competitors at much better priicing. Shopping is mostly commercial and not island. Stores at the mall are good to pick up macadamia nuts cheaper than at the factory and other staple provisions such as water and lotions etc.

Shopping at the Coconut Market was very good, take the free shuttle. The close by beach is good and even if you don't want to take the short walk - there are free shuttles to the adjacent shopping center. The second day is great for swimming as it is a short day. The Wailua River tour is good. The Luau food is substandard - the beef was inetible and poi takes some getting used to. The pork on the other hand was great. The show was woorth the experience and very well done. NCL excursions are too costly - comparable tours are offered on shore by several competitors at much better priicing. The show may or may not be as good but the price is $30-35 cheaper. The river tour can be done for $22 instead of $51 by using Roberts Hawaii

The crater tour was OK but too long and since no volcanic activity could be seen somewhat disappointing. The rainbow falls was also somewhat disappointing because of reduced water flow and thus less mist to display the colorful falls. The lava tube was interesting but be sure to wear proper shoes and a hat to avoid the condensation drips. The view of the crater from the lunch time resturant was the best (and the buffet was good). Macadamia nuts are better purchased at some of the discount stores instead of the factory.
