This ship did not "Wow" me. It was decorated nicely, but not great. The only thing great about the Norwegian cruise line is the freestyle cruising. The "all American" help was only a plus as far as language, but not anything else. I would not cruise on this line again to Hawaii.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The food tasted good, not great. There was nothing great about its presentation. It was basically just average food. The variety was okay, except for the pasta area. The man never got the food hot enough when warmed up. By the time you got back to your seat, it was barely lukewarm.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
We had the show "Shout" and two comedians. We expected better than that.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Most staff were friendly, not overly so. We had trouble with our room steward as noted above and never found him accessible. We had enough of that and complained, at which point our attendant was switched to a female who was taking care of adjacent rooms, who was very nice and helpful.
Ship Quality
1 out of 5
A lot of the desks were not easily wheelchair accessible, due to high thresholds, and some of the doors to the outer desk were extremely heavy to open. A handicapped person would not have been able to open those particular doors.
Cabin / Stateroom

To give you a for instance: When we got to our room that night, in the bathroom, we honly had 2 hand towels. That was it and the one roll of toilet paper on the roll, which ran out in the middle of that night. Before we could even get into the room, on our particular floor, the 10th, the room keys were keyed wrong at boarding to a large amount of the rooms, and people could not get in. One member of the party had to stay at the room while the other member had to go down to Guest Services to have their room key rekeyed. After about at least one-half hour of sitting on the floor, a room supervisor came through with a master key and let those on the floor into their rooms to wait for their family member to come back. What a what to start the cruise. Then, there were major problems with the toilets during our week. There were many times the toilet would not flush for a while and then out of nowhere you would hear the flush. This was extremely annoying, as you can imagine.
Book a tour on the Fairfield II, a catamaran in Kona. The morning snorkel session is great and lunch is included. It is definitely worth booking on your own as the ship does not offer it. A taxi will take you where you need to go.
Book the tour See Kilauea 2 ways. It was very enjoyable. You must be able to be agile and have steady balance. You climb into a lava tube at one point and must bend over to the waist to climb over some uneven rocks. There are also other uneven rocks to climb over. You will definitely enjoy the trip.
