Review summary

This cruise was a wonderful experience for both my wife and me. We especially enjoy the "days at sea" and the transatlantic aspect included eight consecutive days at sea crossing the Atlantic Ocean. There is nothing like sitting on your balcony and seeing nothing but ocean waters all around you. It gives you a perspective on the world and the universe around you.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
My wife and I greatly enjoyed the "small ship" experience that the Pacific Princess provided. We ate in the dining room for the first week but then changed to the Buffet as we find that we are more comfortable with a more casual eating experience. Further, we like the flexibility of eating whenever we want as opposed to having to be at the dining restaurant at a specific time.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The advantage of a small ship is you get to know people more easily. The disadvantage is that there are fewer activities scheduled. We found that daytime activities tended to be bunched around the 10 AM time. Thus, there were several activities we would have liked to attend at that time but (obviously) we could only pick one. The other times did not tend to have that many activities of great interest to us. Having said that, we greatly enjoyed the craft activities that were led by two of the female dancers in the on-board dance company. They were wonderful in terms of their performances as well as in terms of their warmth and friendliness when we interacted with them (Natalie and Sophie).

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The performance by the dancers were the best. My rating would definitely be 5 stars if rating those entertainment activities separately. I would strongly recommend that Princess Cruises do their best to have more performances by the dance company during the course of the cruise (I believe we had four or five performances over the course of our 17-day cruise; if it was up to me, at least 50% of the shows would be by the dancers).

Children's Programs

No kids with me.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our cabin steward was terrific (Ronaldo). He was attentive without being intrusive. He was friendly and was happy to do anything he could to make our cruise more enjoyable.

Cabin / Stateroom

Our "mini-suite" had plenty of room. The balcony was great. It was laid out nicely and had plenty of space to unpack our clothes and hide the suitcases under the bed.

Ship tip

Recognize that a small ship has both advantages and disadvantages. As long as you recognize that, you will have a great time on this ship.

Ports of call

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy Did not visit port

This was our starting point. We arrived three days early for the cruise and had a wonderful time exploring Rome prior to the cruise.

Naples, Italy

Be sure to see the tail-less "monkeys."

Cadiz (Seville), Spain

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida Did not visit port

We ended our cruise here. We spent two nights in Fort Lauderdale exploring the City on our own.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
It went smoothly but disembarking is always a "downer" as it means the trip is over and you have to re-enter "reality."
