Did the 12 night SYD... by PhilipFamily

Sail date: /
Ship: Ovation of the Seas

Did the 12 night SYD to NZ cruise for Christmas 2017. Was my best cruise ever. Best hospitality best food best facilities and very family friendly safe and professional ! The cost includes access to all the activities/shows onboard except arcade games and special spa treatments. If you get the drinks package you will not spend a penny onboard. The 4 restaurants and buffet at Windjammer give you a lot of food choices and they are delicious.

Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: South Pacific - Australia

Had a really fun time on Ovation. The kids loved it too. I have a young child a teenagers and they all enjoyed themselves. There is so much to do onboard. It is a massive new ship so there is always something new to explore on board.

The Grand is one of... by codeman31904

Sail date: /
Ship: Ovation of the Seas

The Grand is one of four main dinning rooms on the Ovation of the Seas. The food is average and nothing spectacular. The wait staff is amazing which makes up for the average food which is being presented in the dinning room.

We flew to Singapore and stayed for 3 days then boarded Ovation of the Seas. My husband and I loved Singapore and loved the cruise. Met some wonderful people. Loved it and will do it again.

Great SE Asian Cruise by drfair

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

A great experience. Very clean ship and the typical flawless Royal Caribbean experience. Lots to do although not as much opportunity to lay on the deck to enjoy the rays.

This was the 8th cruise... by dmk

Sail date: /
Ship: Ovation of the Seas

This was the 8th cruise for my husband and I, 5th for our mother, and first for my sister in law. The ship is beautiful! I read many reviews about over crowding, but honestly, we did not experience any. While we do not lounge by the pools, we walk by them frequently and there were always open lounge chairs, any time of day. The fancy cushioned loungers did tend to fill up as the day went on, but they were virtually open at 8am, so anyone who really wanted one could easily grab one without having to get up at the crack of dawn. The Solarium also tended to fill up as the day went on, but we were even able to find deck chairs in the afternoon there. Food was excellent, especially in the specially restaurants, but main dining was also very high quality. The wait staff were great, friendly & helpful. The production shows were top quality, if you picked your time and showed up 20 minutes before you could get excellent seats, but even if you showed up late you could find a seat but maybe not 3 or 4 together. They didn't have as many production shows as I expected, but it was a repositioning cruise and it might have been a new crew. The headliner shows were also good and varied. Shore excursions were good, we booked tours be locals for Saigon, but the rest we did through the ship. They could have done a better job describing the tours, what they wrote was pretty sparse, but we enjoyed them all. This cruise exceeded all our expectations!

windjammer bottle-neck by docharv

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: Asia & Indian Ocean

Wonderful ship with modern facilities, great shows etc etc

BUT as with all Royal Caribn. ships,we have sailed on many,  The Windjammer buffet style restaurant continues to be a disaster. No matter what time we arrived it was always a problem to find a table !!!! Not enough staff clearing tables and no staff to help finding a table, you  just wander round aimlessly waiting . Dont get a plate of food till you find a table. Not the definition of "free for all" that you were expecting !!!!

Hated it - never again

Just back from phuket and... by wenzhenzhen

Sail date: /
Ship: Ovation of the Seas

Just back from phuket and penang cruise. Awesome experience! Just an asian food is a turndown. Lots of activities at the ship! However, we booked stateroom for 3 persons and the amenities only for 2 persons on the first day of cruise! I was mad and complain to guest services and they immediately solve it asap.

We had a great time... by osas69

Sail date: /
Ship: Ovation of the Seas

We had a great time on the Ovation of the Seas great food, friendly service, and quick clearance. However, I was disappointed that the North Star was out of order and other stuff like the royal promenade aka royal esplanade were smaller than the Mariner of the Seas that I sailed on last year. I will still recommend you to try this ship. ☺️

Lacks personality. Cruise director and... by CruisenLyssa

Sail date: /
Ship: Ovation of the Seas

Lacks personality. Cruise director and side kick more interested in how they look on TV than mixing with passengers. Behind the scenes amazing tour. Sick child in the middle of the night and the cleaning crew were there in minutes. Nothing was too much trouble.

Fourth Cruise with Royal Caribbean. by locobill1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: South Pacific

This was our fourth cruise with RCI and picked this cruise because the ship was the Ovation of the Seas and it ticked all the boxes.

This was a repositioning cruise from Sydney to Singapore.

There was about 4000 passengers onboard, but didn't seem like it, always found a table in the windjammer cafe, food was very good, Deepak the manager was excellent, a very funny man and really enjoyed his jokes, but the food and service in the dining rooms was always excellent.

Shopping was high end. Don't forget your toothpaste etc as they didn't sell these items.

The Solarium pool area was great, never had a problem getting a sun lounge.

All prices onboard in USD.

Drinks on board were pricey, but we purchased the drinks package since we were spending 11 out of the 14 days cruising and felt it was good value for money.

The shows onboard are second to none.

Plenty of activities, North Star, iFly, Wave Rider, dogem cars, roller skating, indoor and outdoor movies.

Overall a excellent cruise.

Had a good time by gloriawaters36

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: South Pacific

Food was good. Dining room staff very helpful. i thought there was too many people on this ship. No chairs when trivia was on, no loungers by the pool and no seats in the windjammer for meals. We took most of our meals back to our cabin to eat them. Overall we had a good time but we have been put off going on ships with a huge passenger capacity. Extra charges to go onto Darwin  Brisbane and kuala lumpur. That was unexpected as we have always had a free shuttle bus into town on our other cruises.

Think of your last trip to the shopping mall so this is what it is like 5000 people wandering around the boat trying to find a seat as the only outdoor seats around the swimming pool which sits about 100 so everybody is walking round and round and round t by tazdevil

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: South Pacific

Ovation of the Seas is a very large boat when you first walk in to the boat on your first day as you arrive on the boat there is no wow Factor unlike other Cruise Lines where they have a beautiful atrium. This was one of the many downfalls of evasion the shops they had on board were very limited the speciality restaurants we're not worth the money you had to pay for them this was a view shared by many people on the cruise and the food you could get an especially restaurants was all available and the dining rooms when selecting your cabin be very Shore you are not by the main picture theatre or above 360 at the rear of ship as it is a very noisy night and day

Very frustrated with too many... by emmie

Sail date: /
Ship: Ovation of the Seas

Very frustrated with too many people, also not told till after sailing security had my case all because my fruit knife 10cm long was in my bag, THIS knife has been on 12 other RC why now did it cause me to have to walk the full length of the ship ( is it 1 kilometre Long?) to retrieve my bag and knife. The food was not as good as we are used to in the dining rooms but Windjammer was OK. I agree the Diamond lounge for Frequent Travellers left a bit to be desired and we never met the concierge in his lounge. Lovely ship but too many people spoil it, the Radiance is better.
