Had a wonderful cruise, loved the ship, but will probably stick to smaller cruises. 14 days was too long.

We are cruising on 12Dec to NZ. Have been trying to book the iFly Ripcord and North Star since April but it has never been available to book. Has anyone on this cruise been able to secure a booking for these activities?

Loved every minute, took a day or so to settle in and find our bearings. Whole trip went so much smoother than we expected. Thanks Royal Carribean.

Great boat with lots of... by tessmeuldy10

Sail date: /
Ship: Ovation of the Seas

Great boat with lots of planned activities but most were very hard to get into. You had to be 30 min- an hour early for bumper cars and roller skating to get a spot in the session as it was a very crowded boat. I have been on multiple other royal Caribbean cruises but this one was almost too big and too extravagant. The concierge club and the dining was excellent though.

We sailed with Ovation over... by jack292

Sail date: /
Ship: Ovation of the Seas

We sailed with Ovation over New Years 2017/18 to New Zealand. Had a great time but there are A LOT of passengers onboard (so keep that in mind when doing anything; shows, restaurants, tendering, shore excursions, etc.), things can take some time (i.e. queues) and we found that a loud minority of guests tended to be inconsiderate and very rude, but if you can filter that out then youā€™ll be fine. The staff onboard are incredible and go out of their way to provide the best service. The ship is well maintained and very clean. Remember to wash your hands, something that will be drilled into your mind onboard! ;) Make sure everything is booked in advance (shows and restaurants) and where bookings arenā€™t available, show up early to get a good seat. In Royal Theatre, sit on the lower deck in the middle (there are poles all around and itā€™s the best spot to have an unobstructed view), in 270 best spot is probably on either side up top or lower level. Make sure you book North Star and any onboard activities well in advance as they filled up pretty quickly. Wonderland and Chops Grille are must do (both are incredible). Other restaurants are OK but not amazing. Definitely see the shows (Pixels, Legs, etc.) as something to see/do, theyā€™re entertaining but not spectacular. My favourite show was a Motown/Soul show, it had a good vibe. Thereā€™s always lots to do and heaps of places to eat and drink. The breakfast joints got really busy in the morning, so we ended up ordering breakfast the night before to be delivered the next morning, you can choose a time and what youā€™d like, it was always on time and much easier to eat in the room. Our stateroom was on level 13, just under the pool deck which meant that you could hear people walking/running on the level above at all hours, so would recommend some of the lower levels, youā€™d also be closer to the Esplanade and theatres. Iā€™d recommend taking disinfectant spray, shower products, and other toiletries as thereā€™s not much available onboard. Youā€™re also not provided with coffee in the room, so need to take some or go to the cafes. The room itself (a superior stake room) was very spacious, had lots of storage, and was really comfortable but wasnā€™t exactly sound proof. Having a balcony was great (it needed to be towelled down as it got pretty wet outside sometimes). There were two formal nights (suit and tie), the rest were casual. Most of the restaurants are smart casual. Overall, an amazing ship and wonderful destinations but patience is a highly necessary virtue aboard the Ovation.

New Year cruise to NZ... by Scozzies

Sail date: /
Ship: Ovation of the Seas

New Year cruise to NZ on Ovation: Pros 1. Ship is huge, amazing to experience 2. Outside cabin was fairly spacious with lots of storage 3. We had very wet weather so indoor pool was very welcome 4. Lots to do onboard (but see cons re queues) Cons 1. Really disappointed in the food. Chops and Jamie's were good, but extra. Main dinning-room food very hit and miss and on a few occasions inedible.... Buffet was the same for breakfast and lunch every.single.day...... 2. Queues for everything, we spent about 50% of our holiday queuing (ship was at capacity) 3. Entertainment was hit and miss, Pixels was amazing, we also enjoyed the dream. A few really good guests too (Jane Cho, Patrick McMahon, Angus and Matilda) 4. Lots of upselling, we felt constantly trying to get more money from you. All in all we had a wonderful holiday, would I cruise on Ovation again, probably not.

Ship was AMAZING, food was amazing, no waiting times even though over 4000 people on board. by Lucylu2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: South Pacific - Australia

We loved this ship it was amazing, no waiting times for anything even though there were over 4000 people on board. The food was fantastic even in the windjammer (Buffett) , so much selection to choose from. We would also sometimes just go to two70 & have a light breakfast & a coffee. The drinks package was well worth it as it even includes your specialty coffees which we enjoyed every day.
