Review summary

Cruise was good but definitely had less entertainment and activities running compared to the January 2020 sailing which was shorter.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
On the ship within 20 minutes

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Great food throughout the ship.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Ifly and North Star now cost extra on sea days compared to pre Covid. There were less activities compared to a few years back on this ship.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Less shows compared to the previous cruise where half the time they were playing movies in the theatre compared to last cruise having shows every night. Chris Brown was the cruise director and he wasn’t good compared to Joff.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Great service in the dining room each night. Rooms are now being serviced once a day which doesn’t bother me. Sorrento’s pizza shut at 10:30 on New Year’s Eve and not many bar staff compared to other nights.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Always someone cleaning the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Great location where there is no lifeboat underneath.

Ship tip

Make the most of your vacation.

Ports of call

Tauranga, New Zealand

5 out of 5
Best stop of the cruise. Walked around the town of Mt Maunganui where the ship docks. Did the 45 minute walk around the base of the headland which had great views of the beaches and the ship.

Auckland, New Zealand

4 out of 5
Half the places were shut on New Year’s Eve. Not much to do.

Napier, New Zealand

5 out of 5
The second best stop on this cruise. Went to the aquarium which was a great experience. Then walked around town.

Lyttleton (Christchurch), New Zealand

4 out of 5
Took the free shuttle into Lyttelton and were dropped of at the bottom of the hill. We went back to the same spot to catch the shuttle back to the ship learning that the drop off and pick up point is in the middle of town.

Port Chalmers (Dunedin), New Zealand

4 out of 5
Great city but I do think the shuttle bus organised through the ship is overpriced of $25 USD. Would recommend getting the local bus from Port Chalmers.

Sydney, Australia

5 out of 5
Best port to sail out of.

Cruise Milford Sound

5 out of 5
Great views throughout the fjord.

Cruise Doubtful Sound

5 out of 5

Cruise Dusky Sound

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Off the ship and out the terminal within 10 minutes.
