This was our first cruise. We are now loyal HAL patrons. My husband says, "We were treated like a rich relative with a terminal illness." (I suspect they were trying to bump us off with the French Onion Soup!)

Food and Dining

Every meal at the MDR and buffet was excellent, except the French Onion Soup. The FOS was revolting: no onion flavor, no onions, just some herbal broth.
Onboard Activities

The Thermal Suite was our favorite "activity".
Entertainment

LOVED B.B. King's Blues Club. We went to two shows every night! Also enjoyed the excellent Lincoln Center artists.
Service and Staff

Faultless staff.
Ship Quality

I liked the "musicwalk". Staff were always working to maintain the ship.
Cabin / Stateroom

Good size cabin and a tiny extra space on our balcony. Loved having a bathtub!
It was a container port. Unfortunate reviews by past cruisers led us to believe there was nothing to attract us. Comments by fellow cruisers said it was awful. Some were hijacked on a 45 minute bus ride which should have been 10 minutes while they were pressured to go to another "better" beach resort. Others reported ganja sellers violently arguing with security at a private beach for access to passengers. One snuck in, waded into the water to sell joints and did not want to take "NO"for an answer.
Perfection. We disembarked at Cozumel where we were met onboard by Immigration and Customs officials. Of course, we were the first off the ship. Absolutely seamless!
Our first cruise back in 2010 was with HAL on Nieu Amsterdam. I agree, they treat you like royalty. The service, food, etc, is always impeccable (my experience). Because of that great experience, we also got "hooked". Going on Oosterdam in Feb and I cannot wait. I am so glad you had a wonderful time. Welcome to the fun, exciting world of cruising. ๐โ๐ด๐นโ
