This was my first time on a Quantum Class ship. I can now say that the Odyssey of the Seas is one of my favorites. What a gorgeous ship and I absolutely loved the layout. Our room steward, Randy, was the best we've ever had. The service on the ship was top notch! We loved the show The Book, but The Effectors was so stupid we walked out. To each their own, I guess.
The food was really good, we did not have a lobster night, but that's ok with me. I'm not much of a fan. I can honestly say I enjoyed every meal.
I cannot wait to cruise on her again.

Our cabin was good in size, lots of storage. Cabin 6124 is at the very front of the ship. I was worried about movement but could feel a thing but smooth sailing.
A word of caution, if you go to bed early this might not be a cabin for you. The main theater is right below you and they have a 10:30 p.m. show almost every night that lasts about an hour. It didn't bother us, we never went to bed that early.
Let me start off by saying this was the port that I looked forward to the most. What I experienced makes me never want to set foot on this island again.
1. There were 4 or 5 ships in Port on this day. This made the day unbearable with the amount of people they shoved on this little island.
2. We took a RC excursion that was just the worst. We started out at the Ruins which we could have done in 45 minutes, but the tour guide talked soooo much that we spent nearly 2 hours in an unairconditioned building looking at crumbling rocks. Then she gave us 5 minutes to get a snack and drink, bathroom but we couldn't bring drinks or food on the bus (the air was nearly nonexistent on the bus).
Thn off to Oia, in which she said we had an hour. However, it took ten minutes to walk up the hill and 10 minutes back down to the bus so that gave us 40 minutes. We only had time to sit down and have a drink at a restaurant and walk a couple of shops on our way to the bus. Back on the bus to Fiera and then we walked a good 20 minutes up hill to the center of town trying to get through shoulder to shoulder crowds. Then, stand on line for over an hour for the cable car then wait in line for tender. 😵💫
Never again...
Ok, so let me say this right out of the box. The Port of Naples is incredibly dirty, industrial, and smells awful. The amount of trash in the water was a sight. So don't be as shocked as I was.
We found a taxi to Pompeii, and he dropped us off and came back in 2 hours to pick us up. He was a really great and funny guy. We didn't have to pay him up front, only when he dropped us off back at the port. A word of advice, if you want a private taxi, be prepared to pay handsomely and in Euros. They don't want a credit card or American Dollars (which honestly I find anyone trying to pay in US currency to be presumptuous)
Pompeii was incredible! I wish we had more time, and it had been a bit cooler. I could have wondered about the alleys for hours. Just absorbing what the people went through to what was let behind so beautifully preserved.
This is a MUST see.
This was a great stop! I loved the town of winding roads/alleys. We wished we would have caught a taxi where the tender dropped us, but we were pushed in the direction of a water taxi to the old port. Anyways, we had to wind through town for a bus to the beach (again avoid the water bus and just find a taxi for the beach)
Once we got to the beach my mind just went into relax mode. The water was chilly, but perfect for a super hot day.
🥰
We loved this port!! We got off the ship and walked the bazaar, did a little shopping. Got a taxi to tour the town. He did such a good job! He couldn't speak English, so he spoke into his phone for translation. He kept us laughing and had great information. We sat at a cafe and then back to the ship. It was a great day!
We're going on the Greek isle cruise July 2024. Your review was very helpful. I enjoyed reading your experience/opinions regarding the different ports :)
