Review summary

Wonderful cruise on beautiful Odyssey of the Seas, our first cruise since 2019, before the pandemic. Very clean and well-maintained ship with a lot of excellent activities. The crew was outstanding and everyone was helpful and friendly. Our only disappointment was that there no longer seems to be a Captains Night featuring free champagne. That's probably true on every Royal Caribbean ship now.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Fastest embarkation ever. We basically walked right onto the ship. No significant waiting anywhere.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We enjoyed the Windjammer, Loco Fresh, and free venues on the promenade. We didn't use the main dining room or specialty restaurants this time around to save time for other activities.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The Ripcord IFly experience was exhilarating! The North Star was so much fun that we did it twice Both activities are complimentary, but you have to reserve them fast. We also enjoyed the bumper cars and other activities on the ship.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The Headliner acts were excellent. Both were famous Las Vegas acts. We also enjoyed a show that featured 48 drones. However, other shows (although using an amazing, highly technical stage) didn't interest us as much.

Children's Programs

No children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff was outstanding and exceptionally friendly. Everyone greeted us and offered to help us all over the ship.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Cleaned, well maintained, beautiful ship. We're accustomed to Oasis class ships, so Odyssey was a refreshing change of pace.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
No complaints about the cabin. There was plenty of storage space for 3 people. The decor was beautiful on this new ship.

Ship tip

Book the Ripcord IFly experience and the North Star experience as soon as you get on the ship. Both the complimentary and pay experiences will sell out quickly.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida Did not visit port

We didn't visit anything in Ft Lauderdale. We've been there many times.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

5 out of 5
Perfect Day Cococay was wonderful. We would choose another cruise that visits this private island. It does involve some walking. Even though we used the free tram to get to the island and back, moving around on the island will require some walking. Oasis Lagoon was beautiful with a nice swim-up bar.

Falmouth, Jamaica Did not visit port

We've been to Jamaica many times, so we just got off the ship long enough to buy some gifts in the port area. Margaritaville has closed.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island) Did not visit port

We've been to Labadee many times, so we stayed on the ship to try out the North Star and other activities while we had the ship to ourselves.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Fastest ever. Customs uses face recognition now. The baggage pick-up location is confusing, though, and we went to the wrong place and had to eventually carry all of our bags to the right area so we could park and pick up our luggage.
