Review summary

The Odyssey did not disappoint. The decorations and the Christmas events (tree lighting and Santa) were wonderful. They could cut down on the caroling a bit as there were too many songs, but it was still enjoyable. I would definitely go back on this ship.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We had 11 AM boarding time and we were able to get up to the holding area right away. We had to wait maybe 15 minutes before boarding the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food in the Windjammer and the taco place were excellent, but food in MDR was hit or miss (still better than anything I can make : )

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
So many activities! Bumper cars, laser tag, North Star, iFly, trivia’s, etc. The Seaplex is a wonderful concept. We were there every day for some activities.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The shows on the Odyssey is by far the best I have seen. They were all technology driven. The Book was absolutely wonderful and the 270 venue is perfect for the show, we even saw it twice. We also attended the Effectors twice because we loved it so much. My 5-year old nephew (who normally will not sit through a musical) wanted to see the Effectors twice and it’s a musical!

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
My niece (9) and daughter (11) only attended the kids club once because they got bored. It was ok because they didn’t mind hanging out with the adults. My 5-year old nephew loved the kids club. He went whenever they were opened.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
RCL staffs were very friendly and top notch. We loved our waiter (Sheryl) and assistant waiter. Our cabin steward (Mani) was also great.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Beautiful and still new ship. It did take me a couple of days to figure out the layout but I really love the 270 area of the ship, including 270 cafe. We played a board game and drank coffee/tea in a nice quiet area on sea days.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Spacious enough for 3 adults and one child. Our activities ended up having us take showers at various times so no one needed to wait on anyone else. There were also lots of cabinets and hangers for all of our clothes (we brought way too many) and our Christmas stuff.

Ship tip

When you get onboard, book your “free” iFly and North Star sessions right away. If you want to do bumper cars and laser tag, make sure to have someone wait in line way in advance (sometime 1/2 to an hour in advance). That person was mainly me but I didn’t mind.

Ports of call

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

3 out of 5
I have not been back to Labadee in several years and I seemed to recall that it was way more quieter in the Cove beach area and the wonderful bbq lunch. There were way to many people now in that area and we didn’t even eat lunch on the island because the food was so limited.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
We took a taxi to the fort and roamed around the area. The kids loved flying their kites there where the kites can get really high and stayed up almost forever.

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

4 out of 5
We booked excursion to Dolphin World and most everyone had fun.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We took our time eating breakfast and walked off the ship by 9 AM. My brother could not find one of his luggages because the tag fell off, but they were able to find it right away. Walking through custom was a breeze with the facial recognition l scanner. We didn’t even need to pull out our passports.
