I only knocked this because there seemed to be a disconnect from the east and clear to understand app, and the people at the doors of the port. They didn’t know where to tell people where to go, they’d tell one guest with Keys to stand in line, then tell the next to follow them. I didn’t have “The Key” and it didn’t mess anything up for me, I just thought it was odd that an actual Royal port was so disorganized.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The food was spectacular. From the MDR to the Windjammer to Giovanni’s. It was all great.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
This was the first cruise to go mask free and it was exciting. There were so many activities to participate in or watch and it felt nearly normal onboard this cruise, and safe compared to the unknown off the ship.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
This cruise brought on so much variety and great entertainment. They were in transition from one show to another, but instead of leaving us without a show they brought in a different headliner every night. I’ve NEVER made such an effort to see so many shows onboard a cruise.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
This was my 3rd return to cruising sailing since September 2021 and the service has only gotten better. It felt very personal and attentive from everyone. Even with crew wearing a mask you could see their smiles underneath.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
I LOVE the QUANTUM class ships, I’ve been on Ovation twice now and Odyssey’s improved upon a soood foundation. Absolutely breathtaking artwork all over, beautiful MDR update doing one massive MDR instead of the split up versions from early Quantum class ships was a great idea.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
I was concerned about noise from the pool deck coming through to my ceiling, but I had no issues with this. Like Ovation the cabin design is absolutely wonderful, great storage, good use of color, nice artwork, comfortable seating and I love the bathroom, yes it’s small (it’s a cruise ship bathroom) but it’s again we’ll appointed and decorated. My only issue with my balcony was occasionally I’d get cigarette smoke from the smoking section above my cabin, this was rare, maybe 4/5 times through the cruise that I noticed it, but only while on the balcony, the odor never came in the room with the door closed, the cigarette smoke seemed to only happen when the wind blew a certain direction.
Ship tip
Give yourself time to get to venues on board, and get to shows and activities a few minutes early so you can get a drink or find a seat without rushing.
This spot was neat because you were close to the swinging bridge which is a sight to see, and the little town gave plenty to do. The local maps haven’t been updated post COVID so it was a bit frustrating heading for a certain shop or experience only to get there and it’s been closed, again, if I did my homework I would’ve known better, so that’s on me. But again a nice port, felt safe and walkable.
I’ve always wanted to visit here, this was my first cruise to Coco Cay, and what a delight. Being able to use my drinks package on shore, and still having Royal service on the island was great. So much to see and do, or not do. Sat by the water for a while on a shaded lounge chair then moved to the large pool where it was half pool and half club pool DJ music was actually nice because you could participate on either side. So much food available, plenty of nice comfortable chairs and umbrellas.
It was all convenient and easy to get to things. I would’ve enjoyed this more if I did more homework on what to do. We ended up in a taxi to a beach. It was fine, but the city didn’t seem ready to have a cruise ship in port so late, there wasn’t much open in the later part of our port visit.
It was easy as usual. First time going through the facial recognition from a cruise in FLL, it’s freaky that that’s so reliable, but it made it so easy I’m happy.
