Too much time At Sea. Not enough activities during the day. Not certain that we would return to this ship again. Maybe too soon to resume cruising, a few people contracted Covid on this trip.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Efficient and easy, took less that 20 minutes @ 1 PM.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Many meals were sub par and disappointing. A few meals were excellent. A few were acceptable. Having cruised with RCI many time previously, the food service on this cruise was disappointing.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
NorthStar was fun. Most other activities were overcrowded. Pool deck was ridiculously crowded and smoky. Ash from the stack poured onto many day beds and loungers. Chair hogs everywhere, towels reserved chairs for hours making it almost impossible to find a lounger anywhere on Deck 14 or 15.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
No more Broadway style shows. The Book and The Effectors were enjoyable with many special effects, very loud and kinetic. The comedian, juggler and magician were enjoyable
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Staff was very grateful to have a full ship (90%). They all worked hard and did their best to ensue a wonderful experience.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Many elevators (40% Aft) were not working for the entire 8 day cruise. The staff were always cleaning and reminding you to "Washy-Washy".
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Bed by the door was not an issue at all. Cabin was spacious and had plenty of storage. Our steward kept the room clean and replenished ice twice daily. You must ask for a printed Compass, it is not left on your bed at night unless you request it.
Weather was poor, no water sports this day. Very windy this day. We enjoyed the tram ride around the island. We had a nice lunch and returned to the ship. Not a good beach day due to weather.
We got a taxi after we walked over the floating bridge. $60 for an hour tour for 4 people to Mambo beach and the liquor factory with a tasting. The driver dropped us back at the ship.
I wouldn’t judge any ship / cruise line when cruising during Spring Break. Probably the worst time of year to cruise other than possibly Christmas / New Years.
