Review summary

We booked the cruise for a quick week long get away. It’s the first time an Oasis class ship was sailing from Bayonne and we took the opportunity to sail on it. The trip was smooth and pleasant with great weather. We didn’t plan for excursions like we normally do when visiting European ports. We just took it leisurely and enjoyed the sun, the food and drinks. It’s a trip to relax and we certainly came back refreshed with a bit of a nice tan.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Arrived during designated time, and in less than 10 minutes we were already onboard. Pre-checked in with the App really made the process ultra smooth.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We felt the quality and variety of the food offerings weren’t as good as they used to be. That was mentioned in the cruise forums all over the internet and we couldn’t agree more. Nonetheless they were still good.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Oasis class is such a huge ship that you can never get bored. It could get crowded at times in popular areas like the Solarium and pool areas. For kids, the aft deck with the waterslides and flow riders are sure to be their favorite water sports area. Fitness center was top notch!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
“Cats” was of Broadway production quality. The aqua show was amazing with the amphibious theater. Reservation was required so be sure to book all those shows as soon as you were onboard and connected to the ship’s Wifi. Headliner shows were very good too, but with so many other activities going on, sometimes it seemed the theater was at only less than 50% occupancy. Still, the performing guests gave their best effort.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Services were of the same high standard as always. The only difference we (and many other guests) noticed was that the stateroom services (changing towels, etc.) was done only once now instead of two times as in our past cruises. It’s not a big deal for us, but it certainly felt like a step backwards. It’s cost cutting by the cruise line which was understandable right after surviving COVID’s travel void, but now that travel has pretty much returned to normal this was kind of surprising.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
All the public places, bars, lounges, tge Central Park, etc. we’re always very clean and well maintained. Any “accident” was cleaned up promptly by the service staff. Most times from my observation it’s the guests who were not so tidy and oft times made a mess as if that’s their right. I can only shake my head. The cleaning crews were great!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Comfortable, clean, and functional as our home base. Balcony was noticeably larger than on other smaller ships. More than enough storage spaces for clothing etc.

Ship tip

Many shows require (free) reservation. Book it as soon as you are onboard or they could “sell out” very quickly, particularly the standup comedy which was held in Blaze - a night club setting with limited seating.

Ports of call

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

5 out of 5
It’s great for anyone loving the beaches and water activities. There were 2 ships the day we called at the island so it’s difficult finding chairs at the beaches. Our wave rider (jet ski) excursion was cancelled with no advance notice, even though the waves looked fine. We spend a few hours there then went back on the ship to the Solarium for the hot tubs. With most people on the island, there’s practically no others. Having cocktails and soaking in the hot tub, it’s so relaxing.

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
The Atlantis resort area probably is a fun place for kids loving the water activities. We could see it from our balcony but did not go there. We chose to do a self guided tour in the old town area. All those attractions were within walking distance. The only thing to be careful about was the cars. The streets were narrow and most places have no sidewalks for pedestrians so watch out for traffic at all times. We visited landmarks like Queen’s Staircase, the Water Tower and a small fort near by, the straw market and a beach a couple hundred yards away. That’s about it. There’s not a lot to see in the old town area.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We used the self carry option for our luggage so we were off the ship with no wait whatsoever.
