Review summary

If you're looking for a relaxing cruise where you get good food, good service, a nice view, and avoid an extra fee at every turn, look elsewhere. This is not the cruise for you. The facilities seemed run down, staff was not very pleasant, the app for your phone was almost worthless when looking up schedules and making service reservations. Overall, not recommended. Royal Caribbean will not be our cruise line of choice. If given another option, we would select another cruise line.

Embarkation

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Only a handful of dining rooms and restaurants were included in the cost. Many restaurants, ice cream, and other service were at an additional fee. The cruise line nickeled-and-dimed on expenses at every turn.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
The cruise line nickeled-and-dimed on expenses and activities at every turn. Additionally, there were really only two locations where one could relax and watch the sea and scenery. It was very odd. Even in the main dinning room the large windows with views to the ocean were frosted so that one couldn't enjoy the view. Everything on the ship was focused on inward activities that often included an additional fee. It was not relaxing at all.

Entertainment

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
The staff, other than the excellent stateroom staff, tended to be very average and often unsure of their duties.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
There really no locations to relax and watch the view of the ocean, coast, or ports with a drink and a book. Everything seemed to be inwardly facing for activities for which the cruise line added an extra fee.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Clean and neat. The stateroom attendant provided the best service of anyone on the ship.

Ship tip

If you're looking for a relaxing cruise where you get good food, good service, a nice view, and avoid an extra fee at every turn, look elsewhere. This is not the cruise for you.

I appreciate all comments whether they are negative or positive. I think it is better to be informed about what you may expect, with the possibility of being pleasantly surprised if your expectations are exceeded. Thank-you.

If cruise line never received any justified criticisms we would all be worst off for it. I been on over 50 cruises and some have been great and others fair by comparisons. I don’t honestly believe I’ve ever had a bad cruise but certainly some have fallen short on certain expectations and I’ve conveyed that in my review. Let’s face it a few bad experiences can certainly subtract from you anticipated vacation. Hopefully the cruise line will address this reviewer’s concerns and if they do we will all likely benefit. I’ve been on the Oasis before and had a Great cruise and I just book it again, but that’s not a guarantee for same super experience. Only takes a small chain of events to swing you from a great review to a poor one. However don’t give up on RCCL it’s one of the highest rated cruise lines for a reason. Thank you for taking time to post your review.

So please if a cruiser said that she or he is not satisfied with a cruise, respect it! We are all payers and we can review our cruise and we should not be bullied or attacked online because we are honest! Thank you!

Sounds like a knucklehead review. Been on Oasis three times. It's awesome.

I have done a lot of cruises and most were on carnival. Then I went on the oasis because I wanted to try a big ship. I fell in love with Royal Caribbean. I have done one carnival since and decided not to do carnival again. In 24 days I will be back on harmony of the seas can’t wait for my experience on this ship one more time. Not sure what you mean when you talk about not having enough free places to eat there are plenty. Solarium for rest and reading a book. How about Central Park where you can sit hear the birds and relax. And guess what it is all free. All cruise lines have things to do that you have to pay for. Royal is not as big a party line as some of the others like carnival.

Agree w general sentiment that Royal nickels and dimes. But they had serval free food venues when we sailed. MDR, Solarium Bistro, Park Cafe, Pizza place and a few other venues. The ship is well worn and really does need its upcoming drydock and a facelift. I had one memorable encounter with a rude bartender. I take names and did include his name on my exit survey and I received a call from his supervisor apologizing.

I usually only cruise on carnival, but I decided to sail on Oasis of the sea, and I to was very disappointed. Staff was rude, and meals were mediocre. The ship was nice, but it was very pricey at the shops. Will stick to carnival from now on. Sailing on the Breeze July 20th, can’t wait.

Wow! was it that bad?? I love RCL always something to do. Did you try the solarium? windjammer? those are good FREE choices.

I'm excited that this is the next ship I will be sailing on. Yes Royal has stuff that they charge for. Most cruises do. But you can ear in Main Dining room and Windjammer every meal. I don't need a expensive malt, or a specific ice cream from the shop. They have that at Windjammer and the soft serve machine. Just a little extra walking. Those are OPTIONS is you want, not required.

I’m not sure how many other cruises you have been on. but this ship kids 4+ star rating from other reviews on this app. We have cruised on multiple ships from several cruise lines and Royal Caribbean is still our favorite. The fact that you list -0- cruises, say nothing about the fantastic ports you visited and basically bashed everything about the ship and RC makes me question the validity of this review. When people find nothing good on a cruise, most people are smart enough to disregard it.

Try the Walmart of cruise lines next time, Carnival
