Oasis of the Seas

7 Night Eastern Caribbean (Port Canaveral Roundtrip)

Sail date: April 08, 2018

Ship: Oasis of the Seas

Traveled as: Family (young children)

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Review summary

It was fun, but I have learned that a bigger ship does not mean a better cruise. More people seem to sometimes make for longer lines, less to do, and staff too busy.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Shipping loading was moving ahead of schedule and smooth

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We did the main dining room every night and food was good. I remember being more impressed though on previous cruises. Service was some great and other not as much depending on where we sat each night.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The 2 things I loved most about a previous cruise I was denied here almost the full 8 days, on deck movies and shuffleboard. There was constantly either diving show practice or shows and this caused the other things to be canceled. Disappointed! :(

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We didn't see a lot of theater shows, but again I think this category also applies to their lack of outdoor movies this trip

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
We had at least one of our 3 kids who could not get enough of Adventure Oceans. The other 2 liked being with mom & dad more occasionally but seemed like when the did go to kids clube they came back saying they had lots of fun.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Some were great, but often seems less interested in helping as they were often too busy

Ship tip

You need to plan early to do most things here. If you are slow there will usually be a big line. Windjammer buffet lines were often long.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

4 out of 5
little busy and confusing but nice

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

3 out of 5
port area with gift shops was pretty poor here. We didn't feel like paying the $7/each for all 5 family members to see if the area further away was nicer so returned to the ship pretty quickly here.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

4 out of 5
This was nicer stop with a cool fort within easy walking distance and a Walgreens to help fill up needed supplies we were familiar with.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
Amazing stop with nice things like food and drinks we were familiar with on the ship included here. Beach was great!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
smooth and moving almost a hour ahead of schedule
