This was one of the better cruises we have experienced recently. We enjoyed the Central Park, the different venues for having breakfast and lunch. I thought the drinks were quite expensive (even the daily special was $8) but the bartenders and waiters were very friendly. We loved the shows but wish there had been more music in the bars and lounges. We enjoyed it enough that we are cruising on Oasis again in October!
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Reasonably quick and painless. Could have had a few more signs or people to let you know where to go.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The food was quite good in both the main dining room and the buffet.
Chop's Grille
3 out of 5
We had a bad experience at Chops on Friday evening, and considering the charge of almost $100 I expected a 5 star meal and service. The rack of lamb my husband ordered was very tough, my steak was ordered medium and served nearly raw, the baked potato and asparagus were both cold. We got up and left. The manager asked us to come back for lunch the next day which we did. The lunch was very good and of course the service was also good as they were trying to improve our first impression. I still can't give it more than three stars, mainly due to the cost compared to food and service.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Sorry but the activities were few and far between unless you are prepared to pay a hefty surcharge. The pools were crowded, and the "no saving of lounge chairs" rule was not enforced. The fitness center was very nice.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
All of the entertainment, with the exception of Cats, was excellent!! Cats was just too long and got boring. Unfortunately our scheduled evening performance of the dive show was cancelled due to wind, but we got to see it in an extra afternoon performance and it was super. El Goucho, the headliner, was truly talented and hysterically funny. The ice show Once Upon A Time was the biggest surprise. I was sure it would be mainly for children (since it was based on fairy tales) but the skating talent was great and we were definitely impressed and entertained.
Children's Programs
Didn't bring children
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff was very well trained. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The waiters we had were all super efficient and friendly.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
We could not believe there were over 6500 passengers on the ship! The layout and design provided enough separate and diverse areas to keep all of us from feeling crowded most of the time. There were three very different common areas plus the casino and entertainment area. All were kept clean and neat.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Our cabin was clean, and kept that way by our very friendly and competent cabin steward, Laney. My only complaint was that the mattress was quite hard for my old bones, and the pillows were obviously pretty old and lumpy, I think next time I'll bring my own. As cruise ship cabins go this one was pretty roomy and the balcony was large enough to have 2 chairs and a table.
Ship tip
Schedule as much of your dining and entertainment ahead of time, and go the very first day to reserve what you couldn't do on line. But don't despair if you can't get what you want, the wait list line usually got in anyway -- just not as good seats.
We did not do an excursion, but I was impressed with the port design. All the stores were right at the end of the pier and you could wander around and shop without having to take a taxi to town. It was clean and the merchants were friendly without being overbearing.
mbr101358 thank you. Great news ... Would hate for all of these Fred Astaire dance lessons to go to waste. Thank you for sharing your experience and response. Here's to many more Bon Voyage's to you!⚓🛳️⚓
CruiseGirl4Life we enjoy Baleros and Dazzles every evening, Baleros always has a great salsa band and Dazzles has a house band that plays pretty decent dance music. Our daughters have done a few late night dance parties and always have a good time.
Thanks for taking the time to share your cruise experience it was very helpful. What I haven't seen in any of the reviews I've read, is if anyone has had an opportunity to go to any of the public dance venues, i.e.,night club(s). For anyone reading this and can share please do.
