Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I am Gluten-free and this cruise was terrific for my needs. Windjammer has a dedicated Gluten-free station and dining room wait staff went out of their way to ensure my meals were both delicious and safe. Just fabulous! My husband said food in main dining room was superior to what he had in Windjammer, Solarium Bistro and Wipeout Cafe. Dining room was also usually less crowded and more relaxing!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Evening entertainment was first rate! The Aqua show, Ice Skating Show and Come Fly with me are not to be missed. Be sure to reserve your seats before you board so you will not miss out. Their production of Cats was long but very good. Young children may not be able to make it through the entire 2.5 hour show.

Service and Staff

Room steward was average. American Icon staff was amazing! They were friendly and very attentive!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship is beautiful, clean and well maintained. It is a big ship and crowds can be an issue especially on sea days, however there are plenty of places to escape the crowds. We usually cruise on smaller ships and found we missed seeing the ocean! The design of this ship limits ocean viewing areas. We will sail this class of ship again but will definitely book an ocean view balcony. We had a booked a Boardwalk balcony based on previous reviews and were surprised how much we missed a true ocean view on this ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
View of ocean is limited. It is also close to Dazzels night club and some nights we could hear music from this venue. Cabin size and layout were fine but we found drawer space to be less than on other ships we have sailed but that is a minor issue. Size of balcony was fine.

Ship tip

We enjoyed this ship but it did take a few days to get used to it's sheer size! It is big! Many reviewers advise you to avoid the Windjammer buffet because it very crowded. They are correct! It was extremely crowded especially on days one and two! Try alternate venues for dining on those days. You can forget you are at sea on this ship! To watch the ocean and find a quiet spot, try deck 14 forward or the open aft area of the jogging track on deck 5!

Disembarkation

We chose self assist and wheeled our luggage off the ship by 7:30 am without issue. Embarkation and disembarkation are handled very well on the Oasis.
