I gave my room stu extra at the end.

I had an amazing room stuard, he made up my room twice a day always new my name. You also have to remember that those tips you pay do not just go to your room stuard it is split up between them and your waiter in the dining room etc. Each person only ends up with about 2 or 3 dollars a day.

we always prepay our gratuities, but we all in r group always gives extra at the end n we make sure we hand it to them rselves so they can have it

But keep in mind there is a good chance that person looses his job

If you get reall really bad service- you can go to guest services and either cancel gratuities or direct them to or away from something- for example your room steward is truly bad- you can cut his portion in half and ask that that portion get redirected to your wait staff

I’ve been on some big ships, oasis, allure, anthem We typically have 3 cabins as a family of 9 traveling together All huge ships, all 3 cabins cleaned twice a day the entire cruise- EVERY TIME! very very strange and out of the ordinary if this happened to you?

First cruise, huh? Guess you didn' t know that this was a part of cruise costs to expect. Some lines have higher tip recommendations. And the work these folks do helps to make your trip much more enjoyable. You wouldn't get me to make beds and clean toilets for the pittance the cruiseline pays them.Next cruise just expect another$100 is going to tips. Prepay if it makes your life easier.

I have no problem tipping this amount. When you go out to eat you tip, right? You know this upfront before booking a cruise, or at least you should if you’ve done your research.

$14.50 /day is about right-it’s a normal tip amount We gave our cabin attendant and wait staff extra -they earned it! They made our cruise much more enjoyable!

I didnt say to reward bad service and I wasn't talking to you.

So because he has to send money back to his family, I'm suppose to give him my money if he isn't doing his job? I work for my money as well. Just like at a restaurant if you give horrible service, your tip will reflect!

Val0417    6 years ago

No that was a fact! I went on it in 2012. That was when the ship was fairly new. I never had my do not disturb sign on the door, I went with my kids and husband. Part of the reason I decided not to go on Oasis this time. I'm not the only one who has had the same experience. I feel like the smaller ships have better service! I feel the staff is stretched too thin on the larger ships!

I find that hard to believe. Unless you had your do not disturb sign on your door the whole friggin time while you were pulling those trains.

Val0417    6 years ago

I believe that is a suggested amount. When I went on Oasis, my room service attendant was horrible so he didn't get much of a tip. There were times where our room wasn't touched for days!

I agree I think the gratuities are a bit much but I will always be loyal to royal
