Review summary

Prefer smaller ships. This confirms it. Royal has some magnificent ships. Their Quantam, Freedom, Voyager, and Vision Class ships are all wonderful. We've sailed on all of them. Oasis is marvelous, but not intimate. Too big for my tastes.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Drop off at the port is very chaotic as you drive up to drop bags and then park your car.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
I'm finding that the quality of meat served (I've been sailing with Royal for over 10 years, and have Diamond Plus status) has been declining over the years. The food is not terrible, but it certainly is not as good as it used to be.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
There's alot to do on Oasis class ships. If you're energetic, you will not be disappointed.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
A lot to see and experience. Not a fan of their main show CATS. It was long and dragged. Hard to follow if you don't already know the story line.

Children's Programs

We don't travel with Children

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Ship personnel overall are outstanding, but with the size of the ship, it lacks some intimacy.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is beautiful. Just too big for my taste. I didn't downgrade it because of that.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin is actually a Junior Suite. Big balcony because it's on the hump of the ship amidships. The cabin is very spacious, and actually has a walk in closet and a tub in the bathroom, vice just a shower. Very, very nice and comfortable.

Ship tip

If you like big ships, this is your vessel. If you like something smaller, than you'll want to try something else.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

3 out of 5
Embarkation port

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
This was a substitute port due to all the damage done during hurricane Irma a few weeks back.. The Bahamians have not kept it up to date.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
Great beach place and as a "line private port", the best in the Caribbean. A lot to do.

Falmouth, Jamaica

3 out of 5
Pretty much just a shopping port, set up by the cruise line. Also a substitute this cruise due to the damage to a scheduled port due to Hurricane Irma.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Not really applicable. We did not disembark. Back to back cruise

I am one of those cruisers that is willing to trade all the things to do for the intimacy of the smaller ships now please understand I consider the freedom class a smaller ship I am on the freedom again in 11 days and the indie in 75 days for me oasis is to big but the intimacy could be turned around if more customer contact crew were assigned to that size ship the crew I came in contact with seemed wore out it must be a monumental task keeping up with the needs of so many plus the needs of the ship as far as the meat goes I can only say as a recently retired meat manager from Publix super market I watched the ships of RC load there meat and they use choice beef from excel meats of which I distributed for my career same case pack as my markets and the lobster tails same as we sold successfully for as long as I can remember I suppose it is possible that many years ago RC served prime but today the cost would be prohibitive we love Royal and will always cruise with them I have tried another and no Thankyou but for the most part I will stick with freedom and smaller CRUISE ON 😊🚢

I am glad that you have confirmed that you prefer smaller ships to larger ships. I have noticed that most everyone here identifies themselves as preferring either small, large, or it doesn't matter. The only way for you to know which one you like is to try them both. It may take you a few more cruises to figure it out, but eventually you confirm your choice. Then, there is less stress, and more enjoyment each time you cruise. And that is what cruising is all about.
