Review summary

The Oasis of the Seas ship was absolutely wonderful. From the experience dropping our bags off for room delivery, to leaving the ship with a small tear on disembarkation, it was an experience to remember and we both said we would love to visit this beautiful vessel again soon!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was a complete breeze! Our bags were collected at the curb and we even went back to return our rental car. Bags were already checked into the ship when we got back from the rental car service!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food on board the ship was really good. Went to Giovannis and Chops! Service was cordial and professional. Have to give a shout out to Edwin in the Solarium Restaurant! My husband and I enjoyed his service so much we got our friends to come to the restaurant with us the next night! He made us all feel like old friends and took very good care of us. Solarium is a well kept secret - don't bypass this jewel of a restaurant! Find Edwin when you get there.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
For the first time in more than 10 cruises between my husband and I we found a ship that got it! There were several hot tubs open 24 hours!!! We visited two different hot tubs while on the ship in the wee hours and it was great!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Comedy was fantastic. Two great performers were on the ship for these shows and both were great! Cats was OUTSTANDING! The actors were superb and the set was very well done. Club Blaze had great DJ's and we visited with the club 4 nights out of the 7 we were there! Oasis of Dreams was, unfortunately cut short due to weather but the show started on a wonderful note. So much else to do on the ship and we were not able to revisit the show but I have no doubt the end was fantastic as the beginning. Quest Gameshow is also not to be missed! We laughed and laughed as our team and other teams worked out a variety of "challenges." I will not reveal the particulars but suffice to say that this show should be on the top of the list of things to do on the Oasis!

Children's Programs

We did not travel with children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Edwin in the Solarium restaurant was the best waiter by far! Francisco and Raymond in the Champagne Bar hosted 2 martini tastings that were informative, entertaining and tasty!!! Don't miss these two if you have the chance! Service in other places was also good.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship's layout was great! There are different neighborhoods and each has a different feel. Food was logistically placed so that it was easy to access throughout the ship. Not to be missed was Sorrento's Pizza and Promenade Cafe both located on the Promenade deck of the Oasis!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin is about the size of other balcony cabins we were in but was well cared for and kept very neat and clean by the cabin steward.

Ship tip

When you get on the ship try and pick out where you want to go and know that you may not get around the whole thing! We loved the Oasis. Be careful of the service fees and gratuities. They are added on quite a few of the receipts but we were not as aware of the difference between the two. The service fee is shared with everyone on the ship (crew) which is fine because there are many behind the scenes people who earn tips but would otherwise not get them without these fees. The tip line covers the performance of the server you are in front of right at that time. Both deserve recognition but be aware that both may show up on your receipts. Give with that in mind.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

3 out of 5
Port Canaveral is a 45 minute ride away from the airport. Know this when you try to Uber as that will be costly. Do your homework and find alternative ways to get to the port if you are coming from the airport.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

4 out of 5
The food choices and set up on the private island were good. Be aware of the souvenir vendors on this island once you past the main vendor shop past the last shuttle stop (yes, the island does have a shuttle). These people are very, very aggressive but it is for a reason. They live in relative poverty off of the paradise that was developed for us on Labadee. They mean well and are just trying to survive.

Falmouth, Jamaica

5 out of 5
Loved the port as we went on the Dreamer Catamaran excursion. The crew on this catamaran was beyond attentive and cared about your snorkle experience. I would go out with them anytime I am in Jamaica with no hesitation.

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
We toured ourserves in Cozumel. Returning to the ship, however, was a very long, drawn out process. It took us about 40 minutes to get from the start of the long line, through customs, leaving our alcohol purchases with security and getting back on the ship. It was the longest wait of the 3 ports of call.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Again, never in more than 10 cruises have my husband and I seen a better disembarkation process. No one was gathered at the elevator banks, no one was dragging luggage down the stairs, it was just a great experience. We went downstairs to walk the Promenade one more time before leaving and exited right off the ship with no line whatsoever!
