Review summary

Breathtaking views, Wonderful staff, and very relaxing. By taking my time dining, we weren't rushed to be anywhere at anytime. Oasis of the Seas is a huge ship, but very clean and once you figured out how to get around, it was easy.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

We only ate at the "American Icon" for the main dining room. The food there was superb. The tea, on the whole ship, (Vitality by Nestles) was nasty tasting to me. Not the dining halls fault; just the brand i guess. The American icon's New York Strip steaks were the best; even better than the Filet Mignon we prepaid for a dining package at the Chops Grille. Had i known i could have ordered steaks, for an upcharge of $16.95, during our dining at the American Icon, according to the menu, from Chops Grille, i would have done so rather than paying the $49.00 each on the night we did eat at chops Grille. On the other hand all the food including the buffet at American Icon WAS SUPERB. We also ate many meals at the Windjammer Cafe. Very crowded, buffet style, eating. Food wasn't superb but good. Food could have been a little warmer; understanding its tasking to feed some 1000-2000 people in 2-3 hours. It was very nice to have the grille available there to serve HOT food. The lemonade on the whole ship was wonderful, almost addicting.

Onboard Activities

Didn't use the pools, rock climbing walls, or fitness centers.

Entertainment

First show we watched was "Frozen In Time": Superb, and talented cast. Very professional. Unfortunately we were cancelled twice for "Oasis of Dreams" due to an illness of one of the divers, but; the wait was well worth it, as we did attend that show on our last night. Dynamite, Excellent, Superb and professional cast. All of the divers and dancers went way above my expectations. The only negative for this show, and really not a negative for the show, but prior to the show; people, including me, were entering and seating in the theatre at 6:30 for a 7:30 show. At about 7:00, we were all told to leave the area so they could clean and close it off to allow Reservation Guest first, which we had. This should and could have been accomplished prior to 30-45 min before showtime. The third show was "Come Fly With Me". Again, perfect.

Service and Staff

All of the waiters, room steward; Michelle, were always polite, smiling and eager to assist if needed.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I have no complaints of the ships layout and design cause i have nothing to compare it to. First Cruise. Such a huge ship; it did take about 3-4 days to figure out which way to go; ie. what elevator to get on to go to which end of ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was beautiful. It was always cleaned upon arrival from shopping, excursions, shows, ect. Michelle was always nice. Thanks for the "Happy Anniversary" sign on the cabin door and she always had a towel made into an animal sitting on the bed. The view was breathtaking. Beds were very comfortable. Maybe a little noisy, we were on the 14th deck, coming from the 15th deck where the pool area was. Not really a complaint, just an observation.

Ship tip

Ask your Cruise planner every possible question you can think of about your cruise, ie. Excursions, location of cabin, what is near cabin, different package deals for dining/Beverage, layout of ship, and shows; ect.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

Simple to get to and from.

Nassau, Bahamas

Bahamas is always beautiful. We did do an excursion, but not through the ship. A gentlemen approached us after getting off the ship and through the authorities. We took a tour,$25 each, that included old historical info and the city; about 3-4 hours. Paul was our tour guide. Very nice. Air conditioned van that held 6 people. We shopped, even helped change a flat tire. Enjoyed the tour very much.

Cozumel, Mexico

Excursion from the ship. Can't remember the name of the tour, but it was $44 each, to include downtown by the clock; lots of history, shopping, and eating. Leo was our tour guide. He was very knowledgable of old history and where to go and not go downtown. Nice A/C tour bus holding about 40 people. First time to visit Cozumel; BEAUTIFUL!

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

All the little shops right off the ship were nice for shopping and just looking, but; our excursion, from the ship, wasn't. As i said in one of my other surveys; you get what you pay for. For only $29 each. "Scenic Tour". For 2 hours, we drove around in an open air bus; we were suppose to go downtown and shop, visit the lighthouse, which we did. The areas we visited were very "poor" and rundown. I felt very uncomfortable the whole 2 hours. I wouldn't recommend this tour to anyone. Spend the extra and maybe go to the ruins.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
If i could rate the disembarkment a 10, i would. There must have been at least 1,000 people taking advantage of the self assistance, rather than waiting on their bags. We were standing in a LONG line that weaved and wrapped around the ship, at 6:15 for a 6:45 departing the ship. We were through customs, picking up our car at Park and Cruise, driving 2 hours to our home, stopping at Cracker Barrel for breakfast, home and unpacked by 10:45AM. AMAZING! Great job by customs and Crew for an EASY Disembarkment.
