Review summary

Overall, we had a lovely and relaxing week. We will definitely cruise again but probably not on an Oasis class ship. Ship was nice and the food was good but the service was not as good as we have experienced with other cruise lines.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Royal Carribbean has mastered the art of a seamless embarkation. The process was easy and quick.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food was really good in each venue we tried. Service was okay but there was really nothing special about any of the service we received. We thought Holland's service was far surperior. While the food in the specialty dining venues was good (we tried three -- Giovanni's, Chops, and Sabor) -- it was no better than we had in the main dining room. For that reason, we didn't feel the additional cost was justified and we will certainly not do specialty dining again.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Karaoke was a lot of fun to watch and we thoroughly enjoyed the pools. We were lucky to have fantastic weather so we spent plenty of time in the pool area.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Our favorite was the comedy club. We would have liked for there to be more nights of comedy to enjoy.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
As stated earlier, the service was only okay. The staff seemed a bit overwhelmed and sometimes even a bit jaded. Holland America and Carnival both have much friendlier and more attentive staff.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was very clean and well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was comfortable and clean. We had plenty of room to put things away. Bed was comfy.

Ship tip

Don't waste your money on specialty dining. If you want a smaller, more intimate dining venue go to the solarium. The best dinner we had was there.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida Did not visit port

My dad lives close by, so we visited with him instead.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

4 out of 5
We did the Dragon's Breath zip line which was fantastic. Beach was rocky and hard to navigate. Also, both of our beach chairs were broken so we didn't enjoy sitting at the beach as much as we ordinarily do.

Falmouth, Jamaica

4 out of 5
We were fortunate to have a great tour guide in Jamaica as we talked to several other passengers who did not enjoy their tours. Sweet Sue was awesome! We climbed the Dunn's River falls which was an adventure with tons of people. We also went inner tubing which was okay but I probably would not do it again.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
We loved Cozumel! We took a Jeep tour to Punta Sur eco park which was lovely and very relaxing. Perfect day!

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Disembarking went okay. It would have been better if we had received the schedule and understood better what to expect. Somehow our schedule was not included in the daily Compass and we were not able to get one. No matter how many staff members we asked or how many times we tried to explain that we never received a schedule, each staff member (our room steward and several people in guest services) treated us like we were just too stupid to recognize a schedule. Our room steward even asked me to show him our copy of the compass and he remarked "there is no schedule here". Duh!! Yet, no one could provide us a copy of the schedule even after confirming we didn't get one. It was extremely frustrating.

Wow I am surprised to hear that. Sailed in July and had a grand time from beginning to end. Service and staff were unbelievable everywhere on the ship especially in the main dining room 😎
