Review summary

We had a wonderful vacation! We are definitely going to be booking another cruise with RCI in the near future! I've cruised with Carnival in the past and RCI and hands down, RCI is the epitome of classy!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The process was seamless! RCI definitely has embarkation down to a science to get guests signed in and on the ship in little time.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Our wait staff was engaging, comical, and always ready and willing to accommodate our needs. The food was great, but the service was better.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
My family enjoyed the spa, fitness center, zip line, pools, teen club, adult nightlife, Flow Rider, ice skating rink, basketball court, and the shows scheduled on board.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
My fiancee thoroughly enjoyed the music bars and variety of music the ship offered. We pre-booked all of our shows and we were entertained each night!

Children's Programs

Our two boys are 16 and did not partake in the children's programs.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
As RCI always delivers top notched service throughout the ship, we were not disappointed!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Again, as always, RCI keeps their ships in tip-top shape and not once were we commenting on any part that was not clean and tidy. Although, Oasis of the Seas is a massive ship, we were able to get to every part and see everything. The only complaint about the lay out might be that my mother needs a scooter to get around and it was difficult for her to get through the hallways while room stewards had their carts out cleaning. Our room was quite small with two adults and two growing 16 year old boys.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was always clean! Our bed was very comfortable and our sons seemed comfortable as well. The size of our cabin was not necessarily conducive to 4 adults. We have two 16 year old boys who are tall for their age. We had a lot of belongings between the four of us and there wasn't a lot of storage.

Ship tip

Find time to see all the shows and partake in as many activities as you can. Experience the entire ship as you will not be disappointed!

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

5 out of 5
We boarded the ship here and didn't do any activities.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

5 out of 5
We only got off the ship for a short period of time. We ventured through the shopping area right off the dock. We did not do any excursions in this port.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
We absolutely loved this port! We did the Jeep and Beach tour of the island. We saw a lot of the island while driving our own Jeep with a group of about 10 Jeeps. We stopped for a short period of time at a beautiful beach and swam in the beautiful blue waters! We had a lot of fun at a couple of shopping stops, but enjoyed the scenery more!

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
We didn't do any formal excursions, but we did get off the ship for quite a while and did a lot of shopping. The one complaint my fiancee had was the amount of locals that were constantly hounding us to take taxi, scooter, etc rides. There were so many of them, that they were pushing and shoving each other just to get to the tourists. After bypassing the chaos, we had a great time walking the streets in the shopping district and enjoying the friendliness of the vendors and shop employees. My fiancee even bought his dream watch, Tag Heuer, at an island price and not state prices!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We had to leave early the day of disembarkation due to the fact we had a 15 hour drive home. We were through customs and check out in 30 minutes. We were among about 1500 other people doing the same thing. We couldn't believe how fast the process went. Again, RCI has perfected the process to get everyone off the ship in a timely manner without incident.

Most cruisers find a line that satisfies their style. Glad you found yours. Mine is a different line, but we are probably equally happy. Happy cruising!

I was told that once you try RCCL, you'll never go back to Carnival! And that has pretty much held true, as I have not sailed Carnival since 2007. But I will be booking a Carnival cruise for 2019, so fingers crossed I'm not too disappointed. I have a free cruise with them that I earned through rewards, and going to use it. Sailing NCL this January. Love them, too!

Did 5 RCI, then Carnival. No comparison. Back to RCI Harmony of the Seas next week. Will never do Carnival again.
