Oasis is a great ship if you are looking for a ton of activities, entertainment, etc. If you are looking for a more classic cruise experience or for relaxation on the open seas this is not the ship for you.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
Took forever. Probably just because it is such a large ship, but did not result in our getting off on the right foot.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
This was our first cruise, and we didn't know where we should and should not go for food. I am giving four stars because the food we did have was really good and there was so much variety to choose from. We did not try the specialty dining on the ship.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
There were a ton of activities. I can't complain.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Also a ton of options for entertainment, can't complain.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Crew members were spectacular, service was amazing.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Personally, I hated the layout of this ship. But that is personal preference. Cleanliness was fine. Splitting this in the middle and giving it 3 stars.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Cabin was great, larger than expected, lots of storage.
Ship tip
If you want to feel as though you are on a ship, this ship is not for you. It is so large that you do not really feel it moving, so you don't feel like you are on water. And there are not many area with windows and views of the ocean. I felt like I was stuck in a mall for a week.
We have tried some other ships since then, and so far our favorites are Majesty and Rhapsody.
This experience almost did deter me from cruising all together, but we tried again and we are figuring out what works for us!
Welcome to RC! I've been on about 8 RC and Celebrity ships (they're owned by the same company). If you liked RC, try Celebrity, they tend to be a little more high-end. Can't go wrong with either line!
We did a 7 day cruise on Oasis in 2015. Big ship! Our impression was that if you didn't see the ocean it was more like a giant floating resort. We did find a couple of quiet spots on upper decks to watch the ocean go by. But Oasis class is definitely not like a traditional cruise ship - it's got activities and amenities going for just about everybody and anybody and that's the real attraction - the ship, not the itinerary . Previously we had sailed Transatlantic on Liberty which I believe is Freedom Class.... Loved that cruise. We did another transatlantic on Rhapsody and totally enjoyed that ship. It's always good to do a little research on the ship and the itinerary. That's what we did. We tried three different class ships and decided we like the smaller ship overall and a longer cruise in general for a more laid back, kick back and chill out kind of a cruise. We're glad we checked out the ships and took them for a spin. Now we know!
We sailed her on the last cruise before the shutdown and found that even though we had to go thru the COVID test before embarking it was very fast. But we did sail out of the new terminal in Miami. Getting off was very fast also.
You may like some of the new changes after being AMPED, as we have sailed her before and after. The only minor complaint was that we thought they were going to add more USB charging ports in the rooms and we didn’t take our charging tower.
This is pretty much our opinion of the Oasis. We prefer the smaller ships. As you said it's hard to find a place to watch the ocean. It's almost like a big mall. It's was still fun.
