Review summary

I really felt like quantity took priority over quality when it came to food. Lunch buffets basically the same every day. Dinner food was nothing like other RCCL cruises I've been on. Felt it was not gourmet (as you would expect), wasn't even good food - sad to say. I never looked forward to dinner and that's a shame for a RCCL cruise. Large ship is you like the feeling of NOT being on a ship! Plenty of pool space was great! Wish there would have been some eating space allotted near pools.

There weren't enough! Also, some of the programs that were scheduled were understaffed and they actually cut off early because they didn't have enough people helping. No excuse for that!

Ship tip

This ship requires you to reserve all shows/entertainment upfront. I didn't care for that. If you want comedy clubs you need to get those reservations early on. For any entertainment arrive early. Too many people on ship and not enough space provided for most (ie: Karaoke, game shows, etc)

I guess the recent weather disasters in Haiti did some damage. Felt the beaches weren't the same as I remember and it was very hard to even walk into the water with all the broken coral/rocks/etc.

I agree somewhat with your thoughts about food, but my expectations are now different. I think food quality on RCI has gone down in general across the fleet over the last 5 years or so. Service has been great (we had awesome service on Oasis our last cruise) and dining presentation is very good, but all said and done the food seems a bit like banquet food. No worries for me though - I am not expecting gourmet meals. Great service will make me overlook a lot.

Same feeling on the Allure last year. I have it the nick name "No Service of the Sea". I still love Royal though. I will be on The Oasis in 47 days to give the big class another chance. But I was say " A bad week on a cruise is still better than work"
