Review summary

Overall a pleasant vacation. The service was not up to standards of our previous cruises, however. Very nice ship. Except for wait times (for elevators, the flow rider, and tables in the buffet), the ship seemed to be able to handle the 6700 passengers.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was good overall. The food at Chops specialty dining restaurant was wonderful. Tables in the Windjammer buffet and the Park Cafe were scarce during peak times. Service in the main dining room depended on the table assignment. Some servers were exceptional, some were OK.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Chairs around the pool were scarce at peak times, but there were plenty of chairs around the upper deck with quick pool access. The Flow Rider wait time was very long and made the short ride time not worth the wait. Some equipment in the fitness center did not work, but we were always able to find available equipment even at peak times.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The diving shows were very good. The Cats actors were obviously very talented, but I was not familiar with the story and could not follow the story line. It was also very long. The ice skating show was OK.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
The room steward was OK. The soap was not replaced as it was used, so we had to ask for more. We had a couple of servers in the main dining room that were excellent. Otherwise, the service OK.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship seem very well maintained, especially for the number of passengers on board.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin was smaller than expected based on a previous cruise with Royal Caribbean. Accommodations were clean. One side of the bed had a dip. They added a narrow topper, but it was not enough for my husband. We ended up switching sides.

Ship tip

Take the stairs when you can. The elevator wait times can be long, and you burn off additional calories!

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida Did not visit port

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

We did a horseback riding excursion, which was pretty good. We had a air conditioned van ride to the farm, which was nice.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

4 out of 5
The time frame for this port was shorter, so we didn't get to see as much as we would have liked. We did a zipline excursion, which was good overall. The facility was very nice and well maintained. They were short staffed, however, so we ended up spending a lot of time waiting.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

2 out of 5
The area where we were was crowded. There were rocks in the water. A Haitian band set up right in front of us and kept trying to sell their bracelets and musical instruments to us and everyone that passed. We were able to go to lunch when they first set up, so we had no trouble finding a table. We did a jet ski excursion, which finally started about 45 minutes after the designated meeting time. For some reason they could not figure out who all was supposed to be in the briefing room. Other groups did not have this issue, however.

Disembarkation
