Review summary

Beautiful ship. Felt like we were on a floating city.  Didn't even feel like you were on a ship.  For the most part, it was a great cruise.  Beautiful weather!!!.  We had a Jr. Suite which allowed us use of the Coastal Kitchen for dinner only.  Food was excellent but you needed a key to get in and only regular suites or Pinnacle members had those.  Kind of humiliating to have to knock on the door.  They need to change that.  Very happy with the size of the suite though.  Excellent dinners at Chops, Giovanni's and 150 Central Park.  Windjammer was too crowded and hard to find seats.  Food okay there.  Loved the coffee ship in Central Park.  Our favorite coffee.   Well worth purchasing the drink package, since it included coffee and water also, which we drank a lot of as well as alcohol.  Comedy show was hysterical!!!  Looking forward to our next cruise.

Renee10---Of course if you have an ocean view balcony (not a Boardwalk or Central Park balcony) you would have a connection to the sea, but not everyone can afford, or even cares to spend the added rate for a balcony. When up on the outer decks of the Oasis, there is that disconnection to the sea. I've sailed that ship--I know what I'm talking about! But I also said that it was a great ship with a lot of activities, and I would love to sail the Oasis, or any Oasis class ship, again. So, if what you want from a cruise is more of a connection to the sea, the Oasis class ships are not for you.

If you have a balcony doesn't it feel like you are at sea? Or not?

We are having a great time as well !! So much to see and do. I am ready to book my next Oasis class ship. I can't go down after being on this !!

Sounds like the key vs knock thing is a way to give those paying more a sense that they are getting more. It may be a slight inconvenience to knock on a door but I can't see it as humiliating.

I can see her point. You pay more even for a junior suite. They could do something other than leaving you locked out to bang on the door. Surely with technology they could code the cards to work after 6 or something.

Thank you

CruisingSiztars--if you are booked on the Oasis, go and enjoy yourself. There is so much to do on that ship, 7 days is never enough to do everything. But if looking for more connection to the sea, the huge Oasis class ships just don't have it. Great ships, though.

I'm worried about that feeling also. Never cruised with Royal but .. due to her size I want to still know I'm on a 🚢 ship

You are absolutely correct about the ship feeling more like a floating city rather than a ship! I sailed the Oasis in 2015 and loved it, but I missed that connection with the sea. I just sailed the NCL Getaway, and it gave me back that connection--especially when hanging out on the Waterfront. But the Oasis is a beautiful ship, with a lot to offer.

Coastal Kitchen uses key card access. For GS and above you swipe your key and the door unlocks. It sounds like for JS you have to knock. The hostess station is right by the door but at moments may be unattended.
