We booked this cruise specifically for the Cuba destination. After a bumpy start (and I'm NOT talking about embarkation day - the originally-booked cruise was cancelled and re-scheduled!), we're very glad we did it, and would DEFINITELY go back to Cuba.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We have cruised with both Royal Caribbean and Carnival previously, and this was, by far, the easiest check-in/embarkation.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Open bar, attentive waitstaff. Loved that there were multiple buffet areas for all meals, never experienced long lines.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Although we heard announcements from our Cruise Director (Dingo Dave) regularly, we only saw him once. Very different from our prior cruises where CDs were all around the ship all day long.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Saw one of the stage shows and it was very good. Live music on the pool deck was good (steel drum band), but they only played two 45-minute sets.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our waitstaff in the MDR (2 nights) were very good. Our poolside bar waiter, Arturo, was excellent.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship was very easy to navigate. Never felt crowded, no long lines anywhere.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Small, but tidy.
Ship tip
Norwegian's on-board app, iConcierge, is AWFUL. Minimal information, you cannot bookmark or save activities that you are interested in, and the on-board texting ($9.95) was spotty (at best), MANY dropped/undelivered messages. Bring a highlighter and be prepared to use your paper schedule!
This was our second time in Key West, and it seems to have gotten way too touristy/commercial (no, I do not need to be asked in every block if I would like to try your moisturizer, thanks...).
Really well done private island stop. Soft cool sand in beach areas, plenty of food and beverage options. We didn't do any of the extra activities, just sat and people-watched but saw plenty of kayakers, paddle-boarders, and snorkelers enjoying those areas. Once again, the nice steel-drum band from the ship was playing, and again, just a short set, but there was recorded music in the background.
