Review summary

The cruise was excellent. We did not expect the level of service we received and we had low expectations for the food based on other reviews. Those reviewers must be eating at the buffet for every meal. The buffet was just ok, but that's how it is on every ship. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all very good in the main dining rooms. We never had to wait for a table and the service was great. The last night of the cruise we had an excellent prime rib dinner in the main dining room. The only specialty restaurant we ate at was the Brazilian Steakhouse. This was outstanding and a great value for the price! We only attended one evening show. This was called World Beat. The music and talent within the show was great. We also attended several other activities each day such as art auctions, trivia games, casino tournaments, and other games put on by the staff. We had a blast and never had trouble finding anything to do. The bars never had a line unless you went to the one right where you entered the ship in the atrium. Even there, the service was speedy. The drinks were well made. Our favorite bar was "Champs" on the 12th deck. The staff there is always entertaining. I've been on over 20 cruises and didn't have high expectations going onto this one. I am happy to say that they far exceeded all of my expectations and made this trip a wonderful experience for us.

Ship tip

If you prefer ships with lots of kids amenities (water slides, movie screens, etc), look elsewhere. This ship was perfect for us as a couple with no kids.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

There is plenty to do within a short distance. We only used this as an embarkation point with a couple day visit before boarding the ship.

Key West, Florida

A lot of good entertainment to check out and great bars/restaurants to visit. This is not ideal for beaches, but we knew that prior to our trip.

HAVANA, CUBA

Everyone who has ever been intrigued by Cuba should definitely not hesitate to visit! I definitely recommend a tour guide because it is a tough city to maneuver on your own. We started our day by finding a pair of tour guides to take us around for a 3 hour tour in an old car. This was a very thorough tour with many neat sites. After the tour, we walked around Havana for a bit on our own. This was a little confusing and not as easy to navigate as most other ports. In the evening we took a tour through the ship which was a walking tour of Colonial Havana. This tour was great. We learned about architectural features, stopped and had a mojito at one of Hemingway's hangouts, and ultimately ended at Sloppy Joe's in which we experienced an authentic sandwich and a Cuba Libre.
