Ship: Norwegian Sun

Cabin type: Inside

Traveled as: Family (young children)

Review summary

The ship was very large and spacious. Rooms and public areas were clean and tidy. The food was nothing to write home about, we have had much better food on our 4 other Norweigan cruises, but staff was always willing to "swap" out a dish for something else. Overall, the ship was fine and I think if we had been in Mexico or the Caribbean with a more upbeat cruise director and activities, there would be no complaints.

Ports of call

Skagway, Alaska

3 hours White pass train ride was ok, but very pricey. But you can bring your own food on so we picked up a pizza and enjoyed our time on the old fashioned train. Town is small (like all the others) but good shopping and some cute food places. Overall, we spent way too much time at this port however, and most were back on the boat hours before departure time
Don't Miss: Helicopters were out in full force - that might have been fun

Port was small and quaint, but lots of shopping and the totem poles and stories were very interesting. The rainforest was so lush and beautiful. We were lucky on this day as they say it is the rainiest port - we had sunshine.
Don't Miss: Zipline the Rainforest Canopy - Awesome!

Beautiful Port - we wished we could've spent more time here instead of Skagway.
Don't Miss: The separate catamaran cruise up Tracy Arm to see Sawyer Glacier
