The one piece of advice I would give anyone taking a NCL cruise is to take the meal plan which will allow you to eat at the specalty restuarants without having to pay. Why you might ask... a silly reason. We like espresso martini's the alcahol was covered in our beverage plan but the espresso part was not so we had to pay $3 for the martini seems nuts to me.

Check trip advisor for shore excursions before booking with the ship. Norwegian charged $159 for zip lining in Mazatlan, but 3 weeks earlier I paid $50 for the same activity at the same location.

If you have young kids, other than the kids club, probably not much for them to do. No fun waterslides or anything. But if you have older kids who are happy by the pool, it's an excellent choice.

Take some clips to hold your beach towel on the lounge chairs. Also Deck 7 has a few nice padded lounge chairs in the shade most of the day.

In the event of emergency medical care; try to look for medical insurance to cover your cruise while on the cruise. Unfortunately we had to visit the medical Facility there a few times due to a kidney stone attack and it is very pricey. We submitted our claim through our provate insurance but the cruise line wants their money up front before leaving.

I would go on this ship again once it is refurbished. It is a smaller ship by today's standards (about 2200 passengers). It does not offer some of the things the newer ships do. When booking a cruise know what you want. There is no bowling or giant slide on this ship. As a senior cruiser I don't mind that.

Laundry service for our trip offered a large bag of dirty clothes, washed, folded, and delivered for $19.95 twice. No self-served washers and dryers. Well worth not having to lug around two weeks of clothes. Two pieces - Internet service is expensive. Seventy five cents a minutes depending on the package. Use prudently. Or wait until you get to a port, walk to the nearest restaurant or bar and hook up to their wifi and make sure you use strong WAP2 and a Private Internet Network for security. OK, three pieces - In room TV was horrible. Didn't work very well. No news, sports, etc. I know, I know, I'm not there to watch TV. I could have done that at home. But two weeks without news, stocks/business (as volatile as the market has been lately) and sports, including the Olympic results, was a bit frustrating.
