This is the second cruise I've taken on the NCL Star. The first one was in May of 2011. The main dining room was very disappointing on this trip. The meals were poorly cooked, bland and very limited choices. The pastry chef on this ship should be fired for lack of inspiration. But the staff is very friendly and very helpful. We had problems our first night and they went out of their way to help us get moved to a different stateroom. Some of the public areas are tired and worn looking, especially the Stardust Theater. Avoid sitting in the first few rows of seats. The chairs need repair as they 'throw' you forward when you sit in them. The Marketplace buffet dining was very good on this trip and the entertainment while getting the washy-washy spray was kind of fun.

Our first time on Norwegian and we were favorably impressed overall. Ship needs some updating in the pool area. And the buffet area is not up to the quality of the rest of the ship. But entertainment was terrific as was the food and service in the dining room. Itinerary was very good as was the efficiency in boarding and disembarking. Staff was wonderful.

When we first stepped on the ship, all I could say was Wow. It looked just like I pictured a cruise ship would look. Being first-timers, we were confused about what to do or where to go until the announcement that we could go to our rooms. I would have liked to have had a little more handholding for first-timers.

The ship decor seemed outdated and on the dark side. The cabins were a bit small and the bathrooms were very small. The layout was pretty good and easy to navigate. The pool area could have used more lounge chairs but the layout was good. The theater was very nice as were the main dining rooms. The onboard shopping areas were limited. There was plenty to do on board. The port excursions were very expensive and unnecessary as with a little research we could do them on our own for less money.

A first I was over whelmed by the size of the ship. But by the end of the cruise I really enjoyed all that the ship had to offer.

This was my first time cruising, though I am an avid sailor. I was very impressed with the size and the amenities of the ship and suite. Nice experience.

This cruise was a total waste of money. The staff was not friendly nor helpful. The ship was old and had not been redecorated, looked like bad 70's decor. The food was always cold and bad. Overall this ship, and as far as I know the complete Norwegian Cruise line, rates up there with a Super 8 motel.

Because this ship heads west from Tampa, we got to four ports in 7 days instead of the usual three. The main shows were excellent. We enjoyed the food and the varied dining sites. The public areas are attractive and the crew is friendly. The ship is aging and showing it in places. Boarding struck me as slow. The shower curtain in our cabin was not on all rungs & therefore difficult to close. They need to acquire modern interactive hotel technology so reservations can be made from the cabins, bills can be reviewed, etc.

The ship was very clean. The staff very attentive and the hand sanitizer all around gave a great sense of wanting to keep things safe for everyone.

Overall a nice ship with a lot of choices for food and entertainment.

The stateroom on the Star was really nice, though the bathroom was a tight fit. The issues we had were the public areas were that it was hard to navigate the hallways due to the flow of traffic and that the smokers made enjoying the outside or even being in the stairway near the casino very difficult. Even in the non-smoking areas they were not controlled well.

SHIP WAS CLEAN AND PERSONNEL EXTREMELY FRIENDLY AND WERE SEEN OFTEN IN GATHERING AREAS. EVERYONE WAS HAPPPY AND GREETED US EVERYWHERE WE WENT.

Overall rating = good plus Negative:1) long checkin lines in Tampa 2) Being in a minisuite on deck 11 sucking in the cigarette smoke from both enjoining suites 3) Our suite was between 2 couples/small children travelling together and we having to endure their across the fence discussions and their crossing to each other suite via our balcony. 4) Versailles dining room first available seating a total fiasco first time we tried! The seating concierge made no effort to seat us with likewise couple, instead seated us with 2 ladies looking for male companions. 5) All the nickling and diming f.i. 75c per minute internet connection! Positive: All staff members, Entire ship layout, All restaurants including plentiful buffets, excellent room, excellent room service

We had a wonderful time. Most of the staff were extremely friendly. The cruise director and his crew were very entertaining and energetic. The entertainment was awesome. The ship was extremely clean. Nothing major I can think of that would have improved our experience.

The ship needs updating. The balcony floors were partly washed away.

The ship was clean, the staff friendly and efficient. I didn't go on any of the shore excursions so I can't rate them. I did not like the free style dining. I didn't think the entertainment was very good.
