Sail date: February 07, 2009

Ship: Norwegian Star

Cabin type: Oceanview

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

The ship was built in 2001 and has few of the features of more current ships. On cold days they had no movable roof to cover the pool, the staterooms (outside) were small compared to Holland American. Small and inadaquet dinning rooms to handle 2100 passengers

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
One of the items people go on a cruise is for the eating experience. Except for the specialty restaurants the food was average at best and the selection minimal.

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
small with little room to sit 4 people. We had to slide the bed to the wall on one side in order to get out.

Ports of call

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

3 out of 5
The Giggling Marlin is an old favorite.
Don't Miss: Fishing or diving

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

3 out of 5
Don't Miss: Head north to Neueva Vallarta for great beach and small fishing village

Mazatlan, Mexico

1 out of 5
An old and idrty city with not too much going for it
Don't Miss: Staying on the ship

Pros: The friendliness of the crew. The express disembarcation if you carry your own bags

Cons: Except for the specialty dining i.e.La Bistro the food was about average and the coffee weak. The open buffet was generally oor quality.
