Beautiful scenic Alaska

Sail Date: June 07, 2008

Reviewed: 8 years ago

Traveled As: Family (older children)

Room Type: Suite

Compared to other cruise ships, overall facilities were ok. Seating was very limited in the dining rooms that did not require an additional fee and sometimes we had to eat outside in the cold. Ships that service Alaska should accomodate guests with enough inside seating for meals as well as provide a covered pool area. We could not use the outside pool or whirlpools due to the cold and rain.
The ship appeared clean and in good condition but we were not happy to find upon boarding that they had issues with a virus and sprayed us continually to avoid it spreading. It must be an issue with this cruise line or ship because we have sailed on 10 previous cruises and did experience this issue.

Pros: scenery

Cons: issues with ship

Recommends Norwegian Star? No.

Children's Programs
If they had a teen program, we didn't notice it.
Ship Quality
Food and Dining
Service and Staff
Mixed - some were wonderful and other below average.
Cabin / Stateroom
Mini suite with balcony would be wonderful for 2 people only. We had our 2 teen children with us and they had to sleep on one small day bed that was rock hard and folded down. Nobody could sleep on it comfortably.
Entertainment
Juneau, Alaska
Must go to Glacier National Park.
Don't Miss: Glacier National park
Skagway, Alaska
Train trip is beautiful. Watch for the waterfalls!
Don't Miss: Train ride!
Prince Rupert, British Columbia
It rained all day. There wasn't much to see. Very little shopping. Shore excursions were cancelled due to weather.
Ketchikan, Alaska
Jeep tour and canoe trip. Excellent shore excursion and scenery! We had a blast on the muddy off road portion and the scenery was fantastic.
Don't Miss: Get out of town - jeep and canoe trip
