Review summary

The Norwegian Star is a beautiful ship. Let's just say it was spotless. Every part of the ship was shiny and clean. We liked the fact that guests were encouraged to sanitize their hands before entering any restaurant and when coming back from a port of call. The staff was courteous, efficient and pleasant. The shows were so much better than we expected. The entire experience was excellent because every member of our family (including a teenager and pre-teen) were happy with the activities on board.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The main dining room and specialty restaurants were very good. The service was excellent. The menu in the Market Cafe could be a bit more creative. Some of the food was over cooked. We enjoyed the 24 hour Blue Lagoon. Room Service after midnight was a challenge. It was difficult to get through.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertaintment was so much better than we expected.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
The children's programs were tailored to different age groups. Our children met some great kids on board and took part in fun activities such as a pajama party, video games and special dinners.

Ports of call

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
You must ride the Yukon Railroad for the breathtaking views! Shopping is good in Skagway.
Don't Miss: This was our favorite port due to hiking outside of the town and the Yukon Railroad.

Victoria, British Columbia

5 out of 5
Victoria is one of the most beautiful places on the cruise. However, the time was limited.
Don't Miss: Walk along the coast and admire the dramatic landscape. See the beautiful gardens in town.

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
Mendenhall Glacier is a must. It is beautiful. The Trak and Trem is another recommended excursion.
Don't Miss: The Mendenhall Glacier is a don't miss site.

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
There is some great shopping in Ketchikan. We loved the tiny town feel.

Pros: There were so many choices of activities on board that everyone in the family was happy.
