Going to and experiencing Tahiti was the opportunity of a lifetime. Over 7000 nautical miles were travelled on this cruise and we crossed the equator. The 4 days at sea could have been improved with additional onboard activities (not enough dancing!) The NCL Spirit is beautifully maintained mid-size cruise ship and the staff service was superb.
Enjoyed the fact that there was diversity among the cruise guests -- many French and Australian guests, plus other countries (Germany, Canada), not just Americans.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
One of the best experiences -- not the mass crowds in a large hall, was handled on board the ship
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The Main Dining Room (Windows) and the Taste Dining rooms were fantastic. Service was excellent and attentive and very pleasantly dignified (not stuffy!). We also tried the specialty dining at Cagney's on 2 occasions -- very good and a step above the main dining areas that were basic to the NCL Spirit but we were just as thrilled by the special service in the main dining areas. The offering of SILK -- tried twice -- was disappointing but a welcome change of offering Asian fusion cuisine... their chef needs to improve in the prep and presentation of dishes such as hot & sour soup, fried rice, and stir fry dishes.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Somewhat average for pools and jacuzzis. We walked laps on the 6th deck a great deal and enjoyed that -- especially as the Spirit cruised the Napali coast (that was a wow!) and we have been to Kauai many times.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
First and last night performances by the singing/dancing staff were the best. Other offerings were just so-so and not appealing.
Service and Staff

Service was superb
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The cleanliness was the best we have seen and the crew took great efforts to constantly make the ship appearance as meticulous as possible. Would rate a 5 but we have been spoiled by another NCL cruise experience on the BLISS which was a wow. We are next looking forward to see if the new NCL VIVA (in 2024) will be as fantastic promoted.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Stunned initially by how small the cabin was and was disappointed by the thin walls where we could hear the guest conversations of the neighboring cabin. However, our cabin was serviced by the best cabin steward -- LEO -- that we have ever experienced and he made sure that we were always comfortable.
Ship tip
It is a wonderfully serviced ship and meticulously clean. We enjoyed deck 8 which was so close to the many amenities (bars & restaurants) and central atrium (but not too close so as to be noisy).
This location required tendering. We did do the Jet Ski excursion -- this was the highlight of our cruise experience. Moorea is beautiful as an island and the waters so blue and crystal clear
Kauai is our favorite island -- have been there on many occasions -- and we enjoyed walking the close area of the port. Would recommend taking an excursion for cruisers who have never been to Kauai.
Going on Spirit October -November Tahiti to Hawaii . Looking for information from previous people who have taken this cruise. So far sounds like a great time.
Thanks in Advance
