Review summary

The first night out was rough with some of the crew and everyone with me, except me, got sick. The stablizers on the ship were not working properly as I understand it. The food in the dining rooms was not up to par with my last 6 NCL cruises and the service was very slow. It didn't appear they were staffed properly and it took forever it seemed. The toilet stayed backed up in my cabin also. The ship was clean but you could tell her age was catching up with her since she was built in 1998. Might be time to put the old girl out to pasture. The bar staff was friendly but the deck waiters seemed to be few in number. On the pool deck the bar shut down at 7pm. Couldn't figure why the band was playing to a near empty pool area. The entertainment was very good as usual on NCL and that was a plus.  When did NCL start charging $7.50 for room service that surprised me. We were cruising with first timers and had told them about the FREE room service.  We're debating if we will sail NCL again too. I am a silver Lattitude member but have my doubts after this one.  Can't give the NCL Spirit a high rating on this outing so if you have a choice of another ship grab it.

Tight goings in the bathroom but the cabin was OK. Toilet smelled and heard water running inside of bathroom wall.

Ship tip

Bathrooms in oceanview are cramped. Get to the shows early if you can we missed a couple because of slow dining.

Interesting. Did Spirit Mediterranean March 2014. Cruised princess & carnival this year. NCL Spirit still tops.

Having been on the same cruise, I did not find the first night rough although we moved around a little.  Hardly enough to become sick, unless you have a very "sensitive" stomach.

I encourage you to read my review.  Unless you are very particular, most would find the food, ship and service very good.  As stated, the ship is getting old and to be replaced by the Epic next fall.  However, it is still in good condition, especially for its age.

Yes, they did put a fee on room service, which did not sit well with us either.  We never use the service, so was not a big deal.  After all, your on a cruise, go to the dinning rooms and enjoy!
