Review summary

We have cruised 5-6 times before this NCL cruise and this was one of the best. Freestyle cruising is terrific. Dine when you like where you like. There are upscale restaurants that you must pay a cover, but the free restaurants are as good as the upscale. You don't have to worry about figuring out the tips for the staff, it's figured out for you and added to you bill daily. For the most part the staff was great, but we had a few crabby ones on this cruise. Which is understandable due to the fact that they may be on that ship for 10-12 months at a time. The ship was clean. It wasn't crowded except around the pool area. And that's expected.

Quality of food was quite good. Whatever you wanted to eat they pretty much had it and plenty of it. The restaurant staff accomodated special requests at all times. Dine when you want and where you want (freestyle cruising w/ NCL can't beat it!)

Entertainment

Enough to do, no problem there. We didn't get to 1/2 of what we wanted, but enjoyed it just the same.

Service and Staff

Maybe good isn't the right desription, but it wasn't excellent. The clerk in the duty free liquer store was very crabby, no help at all. But other than that it was excellent.

Ship Quality

Very nice sized ship, plenty of room. clean areas especially the rooms. I happened to walk in on our room steward one day he was scrubbing our bathroom floor by hand with a toothbrush (no lie).

Cabin / Stateroom

We stayed in a outside room with a CLEAN window. View was great. Size was perfect for 2 people. Very comfotable sheets, not cold or hot, just right. And like I said before, stateroom was as clean if not cleaner that any other ship we've sailed on.

We've been there before and it's a great shopping area. Don't miss the straw market where you can chew the natives down to get you price you'd like to spend.

Really disappointed with the time spent there. Basically from 8am to 12 noon for beach goers. Not near enough time. The night before was okay. But you had to make your choice, nightlife or sun life or do both with little or no sleep.

Pros: The freestyle cruising on NCL was great. No timelines for dinner. Whenever you want to eat, you eat. The food was terrific as it always is on our cruises.

Cons: I noticed that some of the staff members were not as friendly as our past cruises. But the pluses outweigh the negatives.

Recommends Norwegian Spirit? Yes!
