Review summary

this was our 4th and last ncl cruise, 2 on the dawn were beyond awful! the spirit is a better ship, but don't expect much... the entertainment is low quality... was much better in the past. even the daily activities are the same as previous cruises with ncl. had a very nice experience on the spirit 2 years ago, but we could tell they have cut corners in many places. makes for a very lackluster vacation. again, a very tired rundown ship. trips not mapped out well, such minimal time in ports... even great stirrup key (their island)... could see no reason why we had to be back on the ship at 12:30 when we were unable to get off the ship until after 8am... not even 1/2 a beach day! out of my 7 cruises, darin the cruise director was the worst! there was some sort of fungus growing out of the vent in the bathroom ceiling... they did show up to clean it but tried to tell us it was "just dust". we only cruised with ncl this time because we had a big discount from our 11/06 sailing on the dawn that stayed in norfolk virignia in the rain and cold due to a broken "azipod"... proof that "you get what you pay for"!

better than the dawn, but everything is covered in salt so expect to be thirsty. one good thing is they cut back on portion sizes! however, they stopped using trays at the buffet... makes is difficult to hold your plate in long lines.

same tired comedian john pinney with the same act! main shows were just singing and dancing ... they don't even have props or sets anymore... very boring. it seems they don't expect return passengers since they don't offer anything new. same 70s party, same jokes... even from the captain!

stateroom showing it's age, mildew in the shower... bed coverings worn. we were shocked to discover the mattress pads, blankets and bedspreads are not laundered between cruises. that's disgusting!

even during the day this places is loaded with biting insects... no warning from the crew! we came home covered in bites from head to toe that itch like crazy! not a very good souvenier.

our tour was cancelled due to "lack of interest"... it was one of the more expensive tours. check back frequently to see if it's still going if you are really intersted in a tour. otherwise they will let you know your tour is cancelled with a form letter the night before you get to port. this didnt give much time to plan something else, plus most things were booked up.

for $59 we took a bus to disney (we had our passes). it takes approx. 70 minutes to get there, so be prepared to waste 2 1/2 hours of your day on a bus.
