Review summary

This was intended to celebrate my wife's 80th birthday, but we were both very disappointed with our cruise experience. We feel we overpaid for what we expected to receive. Our last cruise on Norwegian Jewel was great, and set the standard bar very high. Norwegian Sky could not match or approximate our last cruise with Norwegian.

Embarkation

We were "rushed" through and boarded the ship en masse . . . did not feel welcomed at all. Quite a different experience from our previous cruise on the Norwegian Jewel.

Food and Dining

Food was satisfactory, but not really great. Buffets seemed unimaginative and plain. Specialty restaurant was quite good however.

Onboard Activities

Went to the Stardust several evenings - were not as good a production as on our last cruise.

This is the only area where the cruise excelled. They were as good as our previous Norwegian cruise.

Ship Quality

Ship is small and old. I hear it was refurbished about 4-5 years ago, but you really couldn't tell. And it was very crowded.

Cabin / Stateroom

This has got to be the smallest and most uncomfortable cabin we have ever stayed in, of all the cruises we have been on. Don't try to use the bathroom at night when the couch is pulled out for a third person - there is virtually no room to climb over or around it without waking up that person. Cabin was clean, but unimpressive. Again, the ship is old - and small.
