The 3 night Bahamas cruise from Miami on the Norwegian Sky is a good choice for couples needing to just get away and relax for the weekend, or groups of friends wanting a party at sea...
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Things went very smoothly from the moment we dropped off our bags until we stepped onto the ship. We arrived at the Port of Miami at around 11:45 am and were on board by 12:15 pm.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The Norwegian Sky food and drink selection was perfect for us. We enjoyed both of the buffet restaurants and both main dining rooms. We did not visit any of the specialty restaurants.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
We did not really participate in on board activities. We spent most of our time out on deck taking in the views.
Entertainment
We did not attend any shows.
Children's Programs
We do not have children.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Everyone we have encountered on board the Norwegian Sky have been excellent. Very friendly and helpful.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
It's a smaller and older ship but they seem to do a good job of keeping it clean and well maintained.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Except for a slightly wiggly toilet and a tricky door latch we have no complaints about this stateroom. The location is great. It's on the same deck as both main dining rooms and located at the end of a short hall near elevators and stairways. Plenty of space for 2 people on a short weekend cruise.
Ship tip
Good for people that aren't looking for a lot of activities and "toys" to play with. If you want a ride to Nassau and Great Stirrup Cay for a relaxing trip, with a free open bar, the Norwegian Sky just might be what you are looking for. Nothing fancy... but we enjoy it very much.
We missed GSC on our first cruise last year and were very happy to make it there this year. Plenty of beach chairs that were close to bars and food. Loved the tacos... nice to see a waiter giving bar service at the beach.
We travel on a budget so we don't do excursions.
Our first cruise last March we walked to many of the sights in Nassau (Queen's Staircase, Fort Fincastle, Fort Charlotte, Junkanoo Beach and John Watlings Rum Distillary. We also did some shopping at the Straw Market.
This second cruise we walked to Ardastra Gardens Zoo, The Bahamas Rum Cake Factory and more shopping at the Straw Market.
We cruise with friends once a year for a week. We added a weekend getaway on the sky this year just the 2 of us to celebrate our 25 wedding anniversary. Can't wait!
