We were looking forward to our first cruise, but were let down. Had we known that was an officially organized college party cruise and that half the guests onboard would be college students on spring break, we would not have come. It was not posted anywhere on Norwegian's site that this was the case. But the thing that really pushed us over the edge was the 40+ bedbug bites that my husband brought home as a souvenir.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
It was fine. It went smoother than I expected based on the number of people to get on board.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
All the dining experiences were very good. We enjoyed the specialty restaurant, Le Bistro.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
We went to a couple of activities. They were kind of cheesy and not well attended. That was probably because this was a college party cruise, and college students aren't in to cheesy games.
Entertainment
We didn't go to them.
Children's Programs
We have no children.
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
Our sheets were never changed. We know this because of our experience with the bed bugs which I will detail later.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
As far as I could tell all the areas were clean and well-designed.
Cabin / Stateroom
1 out of 5
Our cabin was fine as far as size. It looked larger from the pictures, but that is to be expected. The biggest let-down was the fact that we had bed bugs in my husband's bed. He was bitten more than 40 times. We finally figured it out our final morning. We are not at all happy about it. This was the straw that broke the camel's back for the whole cruise.
Ship tip
Ask if it does standard bedbug inspections. Ask if it is hosting an organized college party spring break cruise.
I'm sure it would have been fine if we hadn't been so consumed by our bedbug experience and having to go with the pest control expert to our cabin to search for the bugs. The housecleaning supervisor took our bags for us.
Best be careful, if it truelybwas bedbugs then you didn't just bring home the bites you brought them home too!!!!! They travel on you and in your clothes, suitcase everything!!!
