Review summary

Very disappointed about Splash Academy wasted time and our balcony obstructed view. Otherwise, great cruise. We have cruised with Norwegian several times in the past and plan to take more cruises. Hope to see situations like the ones mentioned corrected in the future.

Children's Programs

My grandson loved Splash academy, but the process of getting it was worse than terrible. My husband and I spent no less than 2 hours each night -from 5-7pm sitting on the floor outside the Splash Academy so that my grandson could get at 7 because they had too many children and not enough space for all of them. There virtual queue on the app never worked so we had to spend 14 hours of our precious time on the cruise keeping our grandson spot. We had to make plans so every one could have either a really early or a really late dinner due to the waiting time. There were parents that had verbal disagreements (in front of the children) because a parent was in line, but he represented a group of 7 or 8 children, which was not fair. After waiting for almost 2 hours and seeing only so many people in line, a huge group of kids would arrive at the last minute and fill up capacity. There were many children that did not get in at all because of this issue. It was terrible, very bad. It wasn't the fault of the Splash Academy staff, yet some of them got the brunt of the dissatisfied parents. I, personally, feel Norwegian made me waste precious vacation prime hours sitting on the floor due to lack of accomodation. Very unhappy about this. Also, after experiencing my own unhappy thoughts about the wait, i also absorbed the negativity of the rest of the parents waiting with us, especially after the tense verbal confrontations. It was hard to get back in a good mood and enjoy the evening.

Service and Staff

Ship Quality

Very clean and elegant.

Cabin / Stateroom

The cabin was very clean. We wanted a balcony (for the first time), yet when we arrived, we realized that instead of a full view, a great part of the view was taken by the water slide right in front of our balcony and we could only see a slice of the ocean on the right corner. Otherwise, we enjoyed it but i feel we did not have a true balcony experience, despite paying for one.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

5 out of 5
Easy for us, since we live in Pearland.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

5 out of 5
Enjoyed the beautiful beach.

Harvest Caye, Belize

The excursion was ok, but Belize looks like it needs to develop more of a touristic mind. Our excursion included lunch, but the restaurant served mediocre food in a Styrofoam recipient with plastic ware. Not a fan.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

Loved this excursion. Lots of fun there.
