Review summary

Very disappointed in the Prima as a ship. I will not choose any itinerary in the future with this ship or the twin- Viva. I hope NCL has plans for the future ships of this design to change some of the interior spaces i.e. the buffet, the main dining rooms, the theatre, bar area seating, Syd Normans, Indulge, the Observation deck etc. Also, we are Platinum and we were NOT advised of the behind the scenes tours, nor the Champagne reception. I had to inquire about them both. The Champagne reception(s) were too crowded, with lines and lines to get in. And really?! Cheese and crackers were all that was served to your loyal customers?!!! Was not accommodated to participate in the Behind the Scenes tour at all.

Embarkation

Very disorganized in New York - some NCL employees not very friendly

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food quality was a bit lower than expected in all but specialty restaurants and Indulge venue. Had two instances of waiting 20+ minutes with pagers for main dining rooms. Buffet smaller and less choice. ALL venues too small for seating easily. Service was sometimes slower than usual, except for specialty & Indulge.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Fitness center smaller than on other ships. Lack of equipment. Had to wait 15 minutes for a stationary bike one day. Too cold to use outdoor pools, etc. Led to everyone being indoors and no place to sit most days.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Donna Summers show was excellent, but theatre was so small we couldn't sit together. Comedians were great - all three of them. Could not get in to Rumours show - venue too small. Line forms early! Some great small bands at the bars. Every venue was too small. No seating.

Children's Programs

No kids.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Luggage arrived late after embarkation. I had to go down the hallway about 10+ cabins to locate my suitcase. Husband's suitcase arrived just before dinner. Wait staff was just average in dining rooms. Great staff & service in specialty restaurants & in Indulge.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The Prima is pretty, no doubt. But EVERY venue is too small - the theater, Sid Normans, The Local, Indulge, main dining rooms, the common area near bars for sitting, and especially the Observation lounge. Hard to get a seat at a table to sit in common areas. Chairs were especially uncomfortable in theater, and The Local. Cushions hard or too thin.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
wonderful! Loved the extra storage in the closets and bathroom. Bed was comfortable. Nicer chairs on the balcony.

Ship tip

Expect to have to fight to get seating anywhere on board. Try Indulge- great choices on both lunch & dinner menus.

Need to warn passengers about lack of taxis in this city. The taxi line was about 2 hours long.
