Review summary

It was a great cruise beautiful ship but has a few issue. The dining onboard was amazing highly recommend Palomar and Le Bistro and lunch at the indulge food hall. Hudson MDR is the best looking mdr I have ever seen on a ship before. Deck 8 is out of this world with the infinity pools love those.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation at Amsterdam was a breeze. Check in started at 10:00 am and was out the door by 10:15 am. Had to go back to hotel and grab the rest of my bags. Came back at 11:15 am and had to wait about 10 to 15 minutes in a staging area before being able to go on ship. Which is no problem they had snacks and drinks for us to enjoy while waiting which was really nice.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food onboard the Prima was outstanding. Excellent amount of choices from the mdr to the speciality dining and the indulge food hall which is out of this world. At the indulge food hall you have some of the best options on a cruise ship. Nine of the Eleven stalls are included in the cruise fare. They are open for breakfast which is more a grab and go breakfast. Lunch and dinner is where it’s at with the indulge food hall where each stall has between 5-10 food choices at each one so many many options. My favorite speciality dining experience I had on the ship was at two different locations Prima and Le Bistro. Both are well worth the extra money.

Le Bistro

Nudles is one of the best options at the Indulge Food Hall. The Pad Thai is to dye for. All the entrees at Nudles is hand made and made to order which is amazing.

Onboard Activities

Here is where I have issues with this ship. Yes I know it’s was one of the first sailings for a brand new ship. But I don’t truly understand what Norwegian was thinking here. The pool on deck 17 is laughable on how small it is. The two hot tubes in the same area are very small as well. We had cooler weather on our trip and you were not able to enjoy the hot tubs without it feel pack. Yes when it gets to warmer weather it won’t be so packed but go look at pictures at the pool size lol it’s going to be interesting to see when it’s a full ship how packed that small pool will be.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Entertainment on the ship was lacking a lot here. They had the same two duos playing nightly in the Penrose Bar area in the atrium on deck 6 but on a ten night cruise you would hope they would have different people every other night. The Donna Summers show was outstanding a little bit longer than I’m used to it was about an hour and half for a show on a cruise usually around 45 mins is good for me. The comedians were great but it’s almost impossible to get into the improv room with it being so small only holds like 100 people max if that. No other shows that were outstanding they were just okay nothing crazy that I would expect for a brand new ship

Service and Staff

The Crew is what makes this ship amazing. But also NCL and other cruise lines try to bring the best of the best when launching a brand new ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

I had an Oceanview room which was perfect. The size of the room was amazing had a great sized bed and sofa. Enough storage for two people more than enough space. The bathroom was huge to me the shower was nice and warm ever time.

Ship tip

Make sure to book your dining reservation and show reservations first thing when you get on the ship. They usually will use the improv for dining reservations and Syd Norman Pour House for the entertainment reservations.

Disembarkation

We end the trip in Copenhagen Denmark let’s just say once you get off the ship try to get a taxi ASAP because these lines were super long. They have a free shuttle that will take you to a metro station but it took an hour or so just to get into the shuttle so I took a cab /taxi it took about 10 mins to find one

Good review thanks, lots of good info there, glad you enjoyed it. Can’t wait to try Prima next May. I read that the idea is just to have a smaller main pool and then the other infinity pools and hot tubs on a different deck so as not to create too much congestion round the pool on one deck - but no idea how well that will actually work!
