Review summary

Good ship, GREAT crew, Bermuda is wonderful, but their are items needing improvement.

Embarkation

2 out of 5
Massport Does Not provide any wheelchairs. There are a few wheelchairs aboard the ship, but none of NCL staff knew when the chairs would be available or even where to wait. Ironically for my limited mobility wife the result of the confusion is that we wound up taking a series of short walks.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Burgers are frozen, hot dogs are good, several entrees in main dining rooms disappointed as did many of the buffet entrees, the crepe station and most of the desserts were excellent.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We really enjoyed playing Deal or No Deal in the theater (the audience plays along on cards bought before the show). There were many chances to listen to music throughout the day and night.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We enjoyed the shows and comedian, but there were none of the Broadway shows that NCL advertises.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward was great and ALL of the onboard staff were cheerful (especially the “washy, washy, happy, happy” girl that squirted hand sanitizer onto everyone’s hands as they entered the buffet), even ALL the staff I met on the ($99) Behind the Scenes Tour.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
We loved the “smaller size” (if you can call a 900’ long ship with 2,000 passengers smaller). On most of the decks you can walk Fore to Aft with minimal jogs. The only “design error” I noticed was conflict between those walking on Deck 13 (especially as we sailed in or out of a harbor) and joggers as the “jogging track” is just a line painted on the metal deck, sometimes taking up the entire width of the deck.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
While small and lacking any chair, the room was intelligently laid out, with plenty of storage space. The view is VERY OBSTRUCTED! With a tiny prison window type slot overlooking the davits for 2 lifeboat/tenders.

Ship tip

If you absolutely must have a wheelchair, you need to bring your own!

Ports of call

Boston, Massachusetts

5 out of 5
Driving is crazy in Boston. Take the excursion that drops you off at the correct terminal for your airline.

Royal Naval Dockyard, West End, Bermuda

We can’t wait to go back!

Bar Harbor, Maine

2 out of 5
Since it’s the first American port after Bermuda, everyone (regardless of whether you are going ashore or not) must go through Passport Inspection. NCL’s procedure, calling people to the Inspection by group, based upon your lifeboat assignment sounds like a good idea, the EXECUTION was very poor, resulting in LONG lines, how hard would it be for the person making the announcements, to pick up a walky - talkie or check out CCTV Security cameras to see if the line has moved at all before calling more groups! This total disregard of passenger comfort stood out when compared to ALL other interactions with NCL crew aboard the Pearl.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Much smoother, people on the excursion get off quickly and even have their own baggage claim
