Review summary

Overall, we love Norwegian and the Pearl has always been our favorite. It was a great time with our college classmates from 53 years ago. Very relaxing and most enjoyable.

Embarkation

Not as good as Miami. We were left standing in queue for 45 minutes food was before we could get in to even check-in.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Restaurants were great.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
One pool closed on second day, but overall things were good.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Our cabin steward, Walter, was wonderful. All service personnel, except photography, were. A few photographers were aggressive and did not explain their process well.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship, restaurants, lavatories, and rooms were clean

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The room was clean, neat, and tidy. Our room steward, Walter, was terrific. The bed is always too soft and I have to request a plywood board under the mattress. Walter was very responsive and kind.

Ship tip

Check the comfort of the bed immediately, if you require a firmer mattress. It’s a tough first night sleep if you need a harder surface on which to sleep.

Ports of call

Tampa, Florida

1 out of 5
Being left standing in queue for 45 minutes before getting through security was awful. We’ll never cruise out of the port of Tampa again.

Harvest Caye, Belize

2 out of 5
It’s a very nice cruise line island for sun, sand, and swimming, if you don’t want to actually go into Belize.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

4 out of 5
Took a cab and drove around island. The driver spoke English well and took us to see the local sites. It was enjoyable.

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
Too many retailers hawking their goods as you exit the port. Silver stores with the same jewelry over and over. Streets small with more jewelry, trinket, and junk stores. Bars and t-shirts.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

3 out of 5
If you didn’t get enough of shopping in the last port..... More port trinket, t-shirt, and junk huts. Watching the dolphin swim with guests was fun.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
It was very efficient, organized and quick getting off of the ship and going through Customs. I didn’t know that I didn’t need a Customs’ form. That was great. The cruise line staff was friendly and very grateful for our business. The port staff was a little “short” and agressive but overall, it was great.
