Review summary

Glad we went, but will not be back for this particular cruise again.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Ship dock was crowded by 11am and only one entrance was open. Took almost 30 minutes to get to the gate. Once there, we had to wait for almost an hour to board. Very disorganized port vs. the ports in Miami, Port Canaveral and Los Angeles that we have used in the past.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Specialty dining was good, but the same on every ship. I think it is time that Norwegian refreshes the dining options and the menus. The main dining room was temperate food, when I mentioned that my food was cold I received great service to have another plate brought. The food was hot, but microwaved so I am rating the food as just OK.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Cagney's is always excellent. Good selection of apps and main dishes. The steaks were all prepared well and we had a wonderful dinner.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
there was an acrobat couple that were outstanding, the comedian was pretty funny and the juggler was quite good. The song and dance shows were amateurish, the quality if singing is not on par with other ships' shows that we have enjoyed.

Children's Programs

My kids do not like Splash Academy so refuse to go.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Excellent room steward as always, our room was always well presented. Bar staff was good, but not a lot of smiling faces for some reason. The Concierge must have been fairly new, we did not feel that the level of service received was on par with what we expected. My judgement could be jaded as we have been spoiled by incredible Concierge service on our past 4 NCL sailings...

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship is well laid out and very clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We had a 2 bedroom family suite and it was beautifully kept. Perfect size for 4 of us. My only complaint was about the noise at night with staff resetting the pool deck area. I would not select this particular cabin again, but one further forward so we were not under the pool deck.

Ship tip

I would not sail out of NOLA again, find a similar cruise out of Florida. On the way back into port on Saturday night we had a near collision with a freighter on the Mississippi and had to make emergency maneuvers to avoid it. Many injuries and broken glassware and bottles as the ship lurched sideways.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

2 out of 5
Port was small and disorganized.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Love Cozumel.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

5 out of 5
Roatan is beautiful, we always get a private tour bus and adventure to various beaches and stops. Locals are friendly and the snorkeling is incredible.

Harvest Caye, Belize

1 out of 5
NCL's private island is worth staying on the boat for. Unless you just want to get off and go for a swim in the Gulf, then head straight back. You beverage package does not apply to the island, not much to do there and everything is an up charge. I will look for itineraries in the future that do not include this stop, wasted day.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

4 out of 5
Not as nice as Cozumel, but lots to do for families.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Far better than embarkation, but we were off fairly early so there was no one in the immigration lines at all.
