Review summary

I normally like NCL but this cruise makes me question if I want to sail with with them again. I had been thinking of their new ship the Bliss sailing from Seattle to Alaska and also when it sails from NOLA. Due to their indeference to do something for us regarding the cabin I'm not sure, I really would like it if you would share this review with NCL !

Embarkation

Crazy lines at check in and was forced to wait hours prior to boarding. Not enough seats many including myself had to sit on the floor or stand. Luggage did not show up till very late. We had to stay in the same clothes we had put on at 4am to travel . Our luggage was not put in our room till after 10pm !

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

The food is something you look forward to on a cruise. I have been on many cruises both with NCL & Royal as well as many others (use to be a travel agent). This was some of the worse food I have had on a ship. Many selections we sent back or did not eat. You look forward to specials like escargot or lobster. No lobster and the one night there was escargot it was a very big disappointment. Served in a dark brown gravy on a biscuit with more mushrooms than anything else. Went to the French restaurant to have escargot and French onion soup the way it should be. This ship has an Indian chef and I must admit the Indian and curry foods were the best.

Cabin / Stateroom

I have traveled many times in an obstructed oceanview cabin. This was NOT obstructed but blocked ! Use to seeing part of a life boat, not a problem. What we had was the mechonism of the life boats right outside and blocking any view at all. You could not see anything out one window as a large metal box blocked the whole window and the ither window had the metal arms that work the life boats right outside. Hard to even get light in and could not see any water or land ! This cabin should NOT be sold as an obstructed view. To price it as so is very misrepresentive they should sell this cabin for the same price as an inside cabin. We did go and complain but they could not move us nor offered anytype of compensation.

Cozumel, Mexico

Been to Cozumel before and the reason I give it 5 stars is the tour. We took the Amazing Secret River excursion. It was recomended by the tour desk. This was awesome ! The tour guides were wonderful

George Town, Grand Cayman

Love this port and have been there many times. We did some great shopping. The tour we took sucked ! It was called the Taste of Cayman. The driver was very nie but the stops were the pits. We were to tour the Tortuga Rum Cake factory but it was NOT a factory but a gift shop. We were suppose to go to a Beer distilery but it was closed so they subsituted another gift shop and the the Rum distilery. That stop was ok.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

We love Acheology and have done many sites in Mexico, Europe etc so we were told to go on the Quirigua Acheological Explorer. The site is ok but NOT worth the very long bus ride to the site and back ! It took almost 2 hours to get there and longer back. This site would have been ok if it had been a shorter trip from the ship. It left us very little time to do much else. The driver and guide on the bus were very nice and the guide met us after for a meal at a local resturant

Harvest Caye, Belize

Now this was a great tour and very well worth it. We took the Myan Ruins & Spice Farm tour. Really enjoyed both. Only negative is that you have lunch at the Spice Farm and it was Very over priced.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

This port is a horror ! Getting off the ship was fine but after you get your bags and try to find a cab etc. it's crazy. We had a car picking us up and it took the driver over an hour to get to us . They had people arriving for the next cruise and us departing at the same time. They would not let us wait at a door close to were we got off we had to walk way down a long walkway were they would let us wait for our ride.
