Review summary

As usual, NCL always puts on a great cruise with quality dining and an informal and relaxed atmosphere. We book in the Haven and it provides us access to the private dining area. The staff and crew are extremely friendly and competent.

The terminal in New Orleans is smaller and more crowded than other ports we've used. Norwegian did their best to reduce the congestion.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
As usual all of the Norwegian Cruise Line's restaurants and buffets were excellent. We dined at several of the specialty restaurants, Cagney's Steak House, Le Bistro, Teppanyaki Japanese restaurant and la Cuccina Italian restaurant were our favorites.

Sake Bar

5 out of 5

Small bar but terrific bar tender. Good drinks and lots of fun.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We don't participate in a lot of scheduled activities, but the night time shows in the Theater were entertaining.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff is excellent; friendly, helpful and competent.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
We like the mid sized ship. More intimate than the larger ships.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Top notch, large with 2 balconies and bath and 1/2 bath.

Ship tip

Make dinner reservations early at specialty restaurants. The available times fill up quickly.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

Not wild about the crowded city. All arrangements worked out well.

Cozumel, Mexico

We took the excursion to Playa Del Carmen for the "Amazing Hidden River". This involved donning wet suits, water shoes, life jacket and lighted safety hat and walking/floating through an underground river in a Cave. This was one of the most awesome excursions we have been tried.

George Town, Grand Cayman Did not visit port

Didn't want to take a tender to shore. Lots of cruise ships in harbor. Thought it might be crowded.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras Did not visit port

Record setting local rain cancelled the excursion.

Santo Tomas De Castilla, Guatemala

We chose a 2 hour sight seeing boat tour that was very disappointing.

Harvest Caye, Belize

4 out of 5
Took a boat trip from the port to a marina, a one hour bus trip and then a lazy river rafting excursion. Everything was interesting but not exciting.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

No excursion, just walked the cruise ship port. Nice little shops but nothing unusual.

Took our own luggage and were off the ship in 15 minutes. Shuttle ride to airport and off to home.
